Hellooooo!! We are excited to announce the return of APH Austria Week, happening this year from October 20th - 26th!
We were thrilled with the response last year, and are so excited to see what everyone creates for the event this year! We will be announcing prompts soon, but in the meantime, don't forget to check out the event rules (text version under the cut):
+ Content must focus on APH Austria, but other ships and relationships are allowed.
+ This event does not dictate what headcanons you have about country relations and familial bonds. It is open to all ships, headcanons, canon AUs, and personal AUs, we only ask that you allow space for others’ interpretations. Any ship/character bashing might be grounds for having your content removed from the event.
+ Explicit content is allowed as long as it respects Tumblr guidelines.
+ Please tag potential triggers and appropriate content warnings.
+ All types of fanwork (except for AI) are allowed and encouraged! Fanart, fanfiction, cosplay, headcanons, edits, playlists, etc. Have fun with it!
+ Indicate which prompt you’re creating for in the post and mention @hetaliaaustriaweek and use the tag #hetaliaaustriaweek.
+ You are not required to participate every day of the event. Create as much or as little as you want! Creating multiple entries for the same day is allowed and encouraged.
+ Each day has two prompts: a historical period and a word prompt; you do not need to combine them for your piece, you can just pick one.
+ Late submissions will still be accepted! If we miss your submission, please feel free to reach out directly.
+ Please be respectful of the real historical events, people, and nations that Hetalia is based on. We are putting faith in the event’s participants to know when content is considered insensitive, and maintain the right to remove content or participants that show flagrant disregard to the rules of this event.

I just saw a Hetalia poll like "what is your favourite ship with America?" AND IT'S FUCKING AUSTRALIA. HE'S NOT AN OPTION. I GUESS I WOULD GO WITH GERMANY BUT AUSAME IS MY LIFE AND SOUL THEY ARE BROS, THEY KISS EACH OTHER GOOD NIGHT FULL HOMO. IT IS AN UNTAPPED GOLDMINE WHY, WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO SLEPT ON 😭

ooooh good question! For me, it’s because they seem like they shouldn’t work. If we go with the historical hetalia perspective, i don’t think they get together until the late 1950s/early 1960s. Like yeah, Alfred’s visited Roderich after WW2 during the Allied occupation, but it was more of a formal/business relationship. I think things started to thaw for them towards the end of that. And ofc one of the things that helped seal the deal was their love of music. It’s a universal language for a reason. Roderich definitely got into jazz in the 1920s and maintained a passion for it. When Al found out, he played a Miles Davis record for Roddy and our Austrian boy was hooked. Ofc he didn’t outwardly show it. Their relationship was slow to build. They shared things with each other when they realized they actually had a lot of things in common. Other than music, both have an incurable sweet tooth and a love of coffee. For Roderich, Alfred was kind of like a rebound from Gilbert — both have that loud, outgoing personality. And for Alfred, Roderich was something new. It was basically a work relationship for him that eventually grew. I don’t imagine them being together in the modern day, if we’re talking about country people. I think the split was pretty much mutual. Once the Berlin Wall fell and Roderich was able to reconnect with Gilbert again, that was pretty much it. He and Alfred still hang out and are friends and it kinda low-key drives Gilbert nuts cuz boy is so jealous. But yeah. That’s my take on them. Thanks for the ask!

I know this right on the tail of my PruAus Week interest poll, but since @fafayayarhen and I were talking about it, how would folks feel about doing a general 'Austria Week' this fall (likely on the week of his birthday)? It would be open to any ships, or lack thereof; just a general week for Austria-related content.
For those following along PruAus Week stuff, I'm likely thinking that for early next year (around Prussia's birthday?). Would that be stretching folks too thin to have both events?
