Did you know that France and Austria were married not once, but TWICE? Haha. During the reign of Louis XVI, when both the French king and Marie Antoinette married in 1770; as well as in 1810, when Napoleon Bonaparte and Marie Louise of Austria were married as one of the conditions for the Treaty of Schönbrunn to take effect, which brought peace after France definitively and completely defeated Austria in the Fifth Coalition of the Napoleonic Wars?

If Francis were given a coin for every time he married Roderich, he would have two coins, which is not much, but it is curious that it happened twice (?).

It is true that his marriages were not very long-lasting, considering the hereditary nature of the “Franco-German Enmity,” but France is not one to have marital unions with anyone, and yet it had two with the same person/nation. And that must say something very important, haha.

like it's so funny going into the whole yeah habsburgs married a lot and you read further the habsburgs married a lot they were so locked for the love of the game atp and roderich coming into the picture symbolising a number of the major alliances and playing the part of a consort will never not be beautifully tragic

how for royals marriage is never for love and for someone like roderich his perception of love too has been so horribly skewered because all he knew and was conditioned with is how it was only a basis of arrangement for political gain

how on earth do you break out of that mindset when your entire branding is marriage marriage marriage ? i fear even at present he still doesn't quite understand the notion of being loved unconditionally because everything had a term

his value as a representative affected his individuality hence the moments you see in canon of his insistence appearing "plain", "horrid" in simple holiday themed outfits (the santa outfit in that one christmas event on hima's blog)

as austria he is beautiful and the crown jewel of the habsburgs, without that identity the person roderich is nothing special to think about nor is he memorable; he's messy, he's actually laidback, he's lazy, he's all things he doesn't think is appealing
