“I don’t doubt that at all detective Reed but your knees are starting to buckle.” The object in question was a box full of physical files that Seven needed to scan and archive. The box was way too heavy for their delicate frame to carry let alone take down from the tall shelf. Gavin had come down to the archives room probably to look at old files for reference when he noticed Seven struggling. They were surprised by the kind gesture, having been told by their upgrades that the man wasn’t a fan of androids.

“Gavin.“ comes in response after a prolonged moment of silence. “Have they put you on painkillers?“ It sounded just like that was the case - there was a tune of gentle weariness in the android’s voice, though, all the same, amusement filled his words. 

He was happy to hear the detective’s voice again. Relieved. He would be lying if he said he had not found himself missing the other...

It was 2:38am, which was the usual time he pulled into his driveway after his night shift at the DPD as a patrol officer. Normally he would have opened his garage door to park his car inside but seeing someone in this driveway was concerning. His headlights gave him a fairly good idea who it was but was still surprised as to why he was here. He turned off his car before stepping out and shutting the door. 

Despite the risk of rejection she decided that was the best option, and a quick message was scribbled in her note pad the moment she skidded into his desk, a cold bundle of fur delicately clutched in her free hand.

"WE REQUIRE YOUR HUMAN WARMTH." The writing was barely finished before she pushed the little ball of fluff into his free hand, prompting a pitiful mew from the infant cat and an attempt to wiggle into the heat. It was only a few days old, it needed to be warmed up quickly, a human was her best bet. “HOLD NEXT TO THROAT FOR OPTIMAL HEAT TRANSFER.”
