Was finally able to find some time to get Amallyn painted in my army colours.

Amallyn Shadowguide from Blackstone Fortress I'd heard the stories of the nightmarishly fiddly sniper rifle this knife-ear is toting, but never believed them until I had to experience it myself. The torque of still being attached to the sprue while I was snipping the rest of the segment out was enough to snap off that long, narrow stabilizer on the underside. I must have reattached and broke it off again almost a dozen times. Finally, I got it to stay in place and survive the paint job. My very first eldar mini, and I see the appeal. Freehanding all those vines on the cloak was a pain in the ass, but I'm quite satisfied with the result. This was also my first attempt at white armour since my Primaris Apothecary, and I'm much more pleased with the result.

My Amallyn Shadowguide's rifle came broken on the sprue, as so many of them seem to, so I decided to replace the barrel with something a little more girthsome. Overall, I think it fits the profile - and the end-to-end pin should keep it from breaking like the original.

First up for today's galleries - the Amallyn Shadowguide miniature from the Blackstone Fortress set. You might notice something peculiar about the hood - that is, in fact, a Bugbear hat, and a homage to a friend's (glorious) D&D character. Done with a mix of Vallejo and citadel paints and random basing materials. Working with white is hard!
