their whole dynamic has shifted somewhat over the years. he used to be more of a guide for her as she navigated this strange new world, and his compassion for others made him very good at it, but as she got more comfortable and less angry and scared, he was happy to shift to more of a passive role and let her discover things on her own. she became very protective of him, and he hides inside her armor or in her jacket where it’s warm and safe.

amelia’s steadfast resolve and proper management of mental health (looking directly at wolf as i say this) has helped her to avoid going through many resets over the last almost-century. the only ones meeko can recall were a direct result of run-ins with the vex going extremely bad and one early on being the sudden onset of DER. he’s not quite as graceful in handling it as serenity is, but she’s done her best to pass her findings along.

with serenity being the clever one and ekko being the curious one, meeko’s archetype falls somewhere between the nervous one and the tactical genius. he has a profound love of strategy games and to this day no one has ever beaten him in five-dimensional chess. he’d be a real asset in the crucible or gambit, but amelia finds them both to be rather vulgar and prefers sticking to field work and helping to rebuild the city, which is just as well because post lunar-incident, meeko has a very hard time staying on task off-world because he’s terrified of anything that moves.

BUT he can be brave if he needs to be, even if overcoming his fear is the hardest thing he’s ever had to do. when he’s more comfortable and city-side with amelia, he feels safer and is a lot more likely to interact with people. he’s got a particular fondness for children and will sometimes let them hold him if they promise to be gentle.

(he likes being held by amelia At All Times, so it’s common to see her toting him around in her hand or on her shoulder like a little pet. physical contact with her is where he feels the safest.)
