Thinking about how they cut their long hair off with their padawan braid, always kept it short, but it grew out in Carbonite. Until Odessen, the only time Theron’s seen it long is in old holos from before they met, and at that point Alysle was little more than a child. They keep it long after, which is how Theron knows that they are not okay. Eventually, when they decide to have an impromptu wedding on Odessen, after Valkorion leaves their mind, Alysle looks in a mirror and sees themself, the scars, the lost weight, the long, ragged hair, and they’re not sure what to do. They know their hair is the right length for the braids for their wedding, but Theron convinces them to cut it all off again and style it the way they like. It’s slightly different than before, a little shorter, a little wilder, but that’s how they are most comfortable, that’s how they feel the most androgynous, the most *them.* their wedding is the first time they’ve felt gender euphoria in a long time—the first time they’ve felt happy in a long time.
Then Vaylin kills them, and Theron kill Vaylin. It’s all empty death and meaningless vengeance, and makes Iokath and betrayal super easy for Theron. He thinks he’s got nothing left to lose.
Don’t worry it gets happy again. Teff’ith knocks some sense into Theron. (Stupid humans.) and Alyse is actually alive because guess what they osmosised Valkorion’s immortality when he saved their life. They can’t die. Order of Zildrog finds their body on Zakuul, and they are kept in a Kolto tank in their science project area until Theron finds them, with the help of what he thinks is Alysle’s Force ghost. It’s not. They’re alive.
