This is a painting of cannibal cupcakes I did over 10 years ago. You can see how old it is with the use of black outline in ink. Since then I’ve ditched this technique teaching myself how to paint without it, using more gradients to form contours. When I first started showing my work publicly, people would come up to me to say they loved my cannibal paintings and that I should just stick with this theme the rest of my life. Tempting as a few were sold and things are easier to market when you crank out the same thing over and over again but I never wanted to be a one trick pony. To me being an artist is a state of growth and development and if it takes me longer to build a career out of it then so be it! I have painted many many different things over the years and despite not pumping out the same thing over and over again, the most loyal of my following will always know my work as fun, sorta dark, sorta humorous and always interesting. #lisangart #contemporaryart #cannibalart #torontoartist #alwaysinteresting #artthoughts #torontoart #artcollecting
