A year later...in the life of mother of a college bound teenager
Last year this week, my DD and I were checking her college's admissions page to see if they had posted her ED. They were not supposed to post it until on or around the 15th but places like College Confidential said they often did it a few days early.
She had visited 17 colleges and universities (small <1000 to large >40000). Some with me and some with her step-dad. Some were axed immediately and some were clearly top 3 candidates but only when she visited the 17th college, convinced she would not find her dream ED match.
So with the dream match came dream stresses. So we parents handed out a ton of advice - some she took willingly, some we just insisted she do. She immediately sent in her ED supplement and sent in her ACT scores. Then the worst and best thing happened. They called her. "Would you like to have an Alumni interview?" Well this was good because they must be calling because she appears to be an interesting candidate. Well this was not so good because she is a bit shy and was hoping to escape the college admission season without a single interview. Oh well, so much for that option.
To be continued tomorrow....
