The power for the cauldron! ✨Most of us don't have the luxury of enjoying a hearth or fireplace in our home, but we can re-create that energetic feel with tools and ambiance. The hearth is traditionally the center of feminine power, where the Mother would cook and create healing soups, teas, concoctions and more. Here is some simple ritual inspo to help connect with that healing, nurturing, warming energy: Put your cauldron in a special place with candles and herb bundles, as well as burning charcoal with resins and incense (be sure to use sand and tongs for this! Safety first!). Have a few deep breaths to center yourself, then take moment to empty your mind and simply gaze into the rising smoke, to see what images or thoughts appear. ✨Sacred Sundays will return next week with a cleansing ritual by @reikimedicinegoddess, but for now heres some history and inspo on creating and experiencing a sacred space from @lvxtenebras! .⠀ "When you step inside of a Gothic Cathedral, there is a feeling of being transported to another dimension: A cavernous reverberation wraps each step, an uttered word in the echos of time itself. As mere humans in this much enclosed space we can feel very small, which was indeed one of the goals in building these majestic structures, so that we might become humble before the altar. Did you know, the altar in a Gothic Cathedral was intended to be a meeting space between mortals and God, where communion was made between the Holy and the Profane? In fact, the design of the Cathedral itself has it's origins in the ancient caverns and grottos of the ancient pagan Goddesses, and by walking into one you enter the echoing womb/tomb of our Great Mother Earth, from which we are all created 🌏There is a Goddess form known as the Black Madonna, the Dark Mother, or Earth Mother, who is often linked to Diana, Hecate and others. This Goddess pre-dates Mother Mary by thousands of years and was worshipped in caves, caverns, and grottos to which various pagan cultures would pilgrimage to for healing and blessing. Likewise, the Virgin Mary is linked to these Mother Goddesses as well, but was instead placed into a "sanitized" Christian Mythology, one that did not support the pro-creative freedom which was held by the ancient Goddess."⠀ .⠀ ✨How can you create a sacred space for yourself that reveres and elevates your practice; one that inspires you to connect with your higher self, ancestors, and other guides while allowing you space to flow with and ruminate on your intention? 🌿Every year in Tucson I visit one of my favorite booths that has hundreds of these gorgeous hand woven baskets from Ghana. They are fair-trade and made by women using skills that have been passed down for generations. Each one helps employ hundreds of women throughout the country, stimulating their economy and well being.⠀ 🌿I love the particular ones in this image because they are mini (about 6” tall), and can hold all sorts of stuff from crystals, to offerings, to jewelry, or paper clips. We’ve only got these two for now, so get em while we’ve got em!
