Did I Ever Tell You?
“I’m coming!!” Peridot yelled, finally overcoming her frustrating stimulation and reaching her climax.
“It’s about time!” Yana called from the kitchen, taking that night’s dinner, spaghetti, from the low heated burner on the stove. “This food’s been on for over an hour, what are you doing in there?!”
Peridot appeared in the door way to the kitchen just as Yana turned around with the pot of spaghetti in her hands. Peridot seemed out of breath, most likely from running so quickly even in such a short distance from her room to the kitchen.
“I was just doing some math, is all.” Peridot caught her breath and took a seat at the kitchen table while Yana placed the pot in the center. “Some equations I had to get through before school tomorrow. Where’s Bell?”
“Had to head to our law firm.” Yana explained, serving the food. “Guys that write our pay checks wanted to do a little evaluation, cases she’s won, lost, shi-.. stuff like that. It’s just you and me tonight, kiddo.” Yana caught herself mid-sentence. Though she thought Peridot was plenty old enough, if word got to Bell that she swore around the teenager, she would have it for sure. Peridot smirked, grabbing her fork and taking a bite of her food. She slurped a noodle into her mouth before responding.
“Well whatever they think, they’d better give her a raise.”
“I don’t think firms work like that.” Yana chuckled, putting on a mit and pulling the garlic bread from the oven. “They’re probably on her about her hair again. And can you wait until I have ALL of the food out before you start chowing down?”
“Says the woman who gave me extra candy last Halloween.” Peridot retorted, waving her fork around. “Besides, I just spent the last couple of hours doing math. You’d be starving too.”
“I do more math now than you’ve done in your life time.” Yana shot back, taking her own seat across from Peridot after handing her a piece of bread. “Being a lawyer is freaking hard, I’d kill to be in school again.”
“Well you got a fork in your hand, what’s stopping you?” Peridot stood up, leaning across the table and craning her neck. “Come on, right here.” She pointed at a spot on her neck where she assumed her jugular was. “No one’s looking~”
Yana smirked. She grabbed a fork full of her spaghetti, sure to have plenty of red sauce, and jabbed at Peridot’s neck.
Peridot gasped, dramatically clutching at her neck. She felt the noodles and red meat stuck to her skin and stumbled backward, knocking her chair over.
“You actually did it!” Peridot shouted, and Yana put a hand over her mouth to keep herself from laughing. Peridot danced around the table, placing the back of her free hand on her forehead in a dramatic act. “Oh, the agony! My neck! My veins! You can see them oozing from my skin, in all their orange glory!”
Yana struggled to not laugh behind her hand, tears forming in her eyes as she watched Peridot’s performance.
“My life!” Peridot slowly sunk to the floor, clutching at the table. “Slowly fading… flashing before my eyes. Amethyst, Lapis… remember.. me.. bleh.” She finally went quiet, laying on her back on the kitchen floor, tongue hanging from her mouth.
Yana removed her hand from her mouth, chuckling as she tried to speak. “Hehe, b-bleh? Really? Hahahe..”
Peridot opened one eye, smirking. “Bleh.”
“Bleh.” Yana repeated. Peridot rose on her elbows.
“Bleh!”
“Bleh!!”
“BLEH!!!”
“BLLEEEEHH!!!”
They repeated this several times, just yelling the same word at each other over and over, until they both came under a laughing fit. Peridot clutched at her sides, rolling on the ground while Yana struggled to keep herself seated. They laughed for what seemed like minutes. When one seemed to be finished, the tiniest chuckle from the other would send them over again.
Finally, both Peridot and Yana had to breathe, and came down from their laughter. Peridot took deep breaths as she lay on the ground, and Yana had to cough a few times to really keep herself from rolling into the laughter again. She sighed when she finally regained control and took a bite of her garlic bread.
Peridot dragged herself from the floor and grabbed a dish towel from one of the kitchen drawers. She fixed her chair and took a seat, wiping the spaghetti sauce from her neck.
Silence followed for a bit. The women ate their spaghetti in peace, and Yana especially was glad to get something in her stomach after that laughing fiasco. Though, after a few moments of nothing but the sound of chewing and the metal clank of a fork hitting a plate, Peridot spoke.
“Did I ever tell you that I love you?”
Yana almost dropped her fork. Not from surprise, or anything of the sort, but because she had no idea how to respond. For a split second, Yana thought, staring at the girl across from her. Peridot continued to eat as if nothing had been said, seemingly naive to the confusion she’s caused the Yana.
Of course, being who she was, Yana could only think to say the stupidest things in this situation. “S-shut up and eat your spaghetti.”
Peridot smiled, and continued to eat. That was good enough for her.
(A small little thing I thought of. Hope you enjoy it!)
