Dorian gets away with not practicing proper huge-snake-watching/cuddling protocol because he is a mage and Lady is probably smart enough to be reading the book with him, but obligatory reminder that these are massive and massively difficult animals to care for for the average human~

So I left home and Obie for the winter break (I couldn't take him with me cause i go to college in Georgia, had home on Texas but was driving to Minnesota for thanksgiving and flying down to Texas for the rest of the break. There was no way to fly him home cause it was already too cold and traveling wasn't an option) with a friend of mine who has owned reptiles in the past (and was the only one who would feed him). He was my second choice after the first choice, a friend with multiple ball pythons and lots of experience, moved across the country for a year. I was nervous, typed up information and printed out lots of other things, made up worst case scenarios, highlighted the super important shit, etc. I was gonna pay him almost 200$. Was. (Bear in mind, first choice moved away and I had maybe two weeks to find a new person all the while working on finals) He hardly communicated with me over break. When he did, he said Obie struck at him a few times. That was weird cause Obie never did that with me. But the guy hardly messaged me back and I was a nervous wreck all break. I'm home now and I got to see him. I am beyond furious at my friend. His water was almost empty, maybe a centimeter of water (if that) left at the bottom (my roommate got home before me and said he was in there trying to soak poor baby :<) and the TEMPERATURE ON THE COOL SIDE WAS UPPER NINETIES. THE UTH WAS SET TO 90 IN THE FIRST PLACE AND IT WAS READING AT A HUNDRED? Not only that, but he seems to be completely stressed out (pupils dilated constantly, almost filling his entire eye, and always in a striking pose). I'm gonna check for burns tomorrow just in case and I gave him fresh water and I'm gonna do a heavy duty clean of his tank. So I need some help on figuring out some shit. From what I can see, there are no visible signs of burns or anything alarming. He may just need a steady environment that that jackass didn't provide (motherfucker refused to just check on him twice a day) and that will straighten things out but the dilated pupils kinda make me nervous? Any help is appreciated.
