Hardware:
💥Salt (I have kosher, for REALLY dirty pieces mix sizes of salt, try iodized/table & kosher)
💥Rubbing Alchoal 70% (and up, 90% is better)
*** .optional and potentially appropriative.*** 💥Rose Scented Agua Florida for the scent and to cleanse.
Step by step:
🍁Pour some salt into your piece, fill about 1/3 of the water chamber - for a pipe or bowls, place inside a plastic baggie or Tupperware and follow the same steps
🍁Add equal part rubbing alchoal, swirl together, and let sit for about 15 minutes
🍁Cover the stem hole (loooOl) and cover the mouth piece, grasp firmly and shake. The salt acts as an abrasive while the rubbing alchoal acts as a solvent to break up the resin
🍁Dump out the debris into the drain, if your cleaning smaller pieces place a colander or strainer in the sink before you pour.
🍁Repeat the process as many times as you need to clean away all the trapped resin, for me it's about 3 shakes
🍁After the debris is clean, I rinse the piece with water, then with agua Florida for cleansing purposes and a nice scent. Rinse and let dry.
🍁(optional) soak your piece in a mixture of water and lemon juice for about 30 minutes and it'll prentent some future resin build up
* Agua Florida is a traditional part of Latine and Africana traditions and shouldn't be used if you fall outside of those traditions.
