I wanted to elaborate on that point I made in my Akilah/Gen 9th survivor theory. I do think it's possible Akilah was originally intended to die in the s3 finale. I always find the way they left her fate ambiguous to be odd, like there was a scene that got deleted. The scene cutting right when Akilah is possibly about to kill Lottie with a rock, then we never see Akilah again for the rest of the episode.

I feel like it's possible that in this deleted scene, Akilah fails to kill Lottie (either she couldn't go through with it, or Lottie overpowered her) and instead, Lottie killed her. That would explain why we only see Lottie later, outside the cave. Because Akilah never left that cave and was supposed to die in there.

And that could explain why Lottie tried to warn Mari about the pit, because someone had already died and therefore, she didn’t need to die too. Unfortunately, that did not help, and Mari still died.

I think the biggest clue that Akilah was originally intended to be dead is her absence during the feast. When this scene was filmed, Akilah was probably still considered dead. Even if they cut the scene where she allegedly died, if this was done post-production, then she'd still be missing from that scene.

lottie? lived. shauna? lived.

all were offered the dream food; the former two died after they ate, and the latter two didn’t eat and lived.

but then we have akilah. though she ate the berries, she was the only one to wake up after consuming the dream food. she was also the only one not to get bullied by the wilderness in the shared vision. bro saw a talking llama while van burned to death and shauna saw her dead son. like the wilderness was sure feeling generous that day.

and then that snap bracelet didn’t harm her like it did the other two.
