Mount St. Helens out today
September 15, 2018Â Kennewick WA
Still at Columbia Sun RV park in Kennewick. Weather has been nice, a bit windy most afternoons but that is normal here.  We have been cleaning out the compartments and basements from all the Alaskan dirt (ok, we have not cleaned in 2 years but are blaming Alaska).  I also found and fixed the water leak which was another band that was starting to fail, so I put a srcrew on ribbon clamp around it and it is now dry.
We also did a major clean on the truck wihch was 4 lbs of dirt, 2 lbs of rocks, and 6 lbs of doggy hair. Then we took the truck to a self wash for a good cleaning.
We rode our bikes along the Columbia river, which was a nice ride and we plan to do the other side of the river soon. Also, we went to a few breweries around the Tri-Cities area. The first was Ice Harbor, beer was ok best was their Tropica IPA the brewery was mostly a restaurant and in a historic building. We also went to White Bluffs brewery in Richland which was a really nice brewery with many good beers including a Kolsch, Red, a couple of belgian farm house beers, and a beer called Larry Rocktober ale which we ended up with a Growler of. Just down the street from White Bluffs was Bombing Range brewery which we sampled a hefe, Belgian ale, and pale ale, the place seemed more about the restaurant than beer.

Been cleaning the basements out, amazing how much dirt and crud you can get in them in 4 months. Also, took apart the shower Hepvo valve as the drain as been slow lately. Ugly work but got it cleaned out and put back together (looks new now). Shower drains beautifully but found water in the wet bay so not sure if I bumped a hose, Trying to track it down now.
Kennewick is windy most of the time, temps are in the mid 70s and the breeze makes it cold in the shade. Our awning is getting a workout as we put it out and 30 minutes later a gust comes up and causes the automatic retract to kick in. But that is why we had it installed!
Went to a really good mexican restaurant for lunch, El Porton. I had the Chipotle chicken (good but I could have used it spicier), and D had the Diablo shrimp which had a really spicy hot sauce but flavorful sauce. Good lunch and plenty of leftovers for dinner.
I also got my ears lowered at a great haircut place. For $24 she cut my hair, then massaged my scalp, then washed my hair with more massaging (almost fell asleep) while my face was covered in a hot towel. Told D I needed a nap after that! Keene Salon is the place if you are ever here.
Also, VZ took away my discount now that I am retired from HP and couldnât prove I worked there still. So spent an hour with them and got on a 55+ unlimited plan that is actually less than what I was paying before for 8gb. I have him on record saying there are no limitations, but later read and confirmed that they throttle your hotspot (.6mps) and roaming (2g). Will find out if we can live with that or if I throw there promise back at them. Good thing I have the transcript sent to me!

Back in the USA!!
Left Kelowna just after 6:30 am, skies are partly cloudy but no rain. Â Took 2 hours to get to the border, where the bored customs agents are now claiming to be USDA officers and are searching RVs for contraband veggies. They took a potato because it âwas not commercially cleanedâ and a Costco avocado because it was grown in Mexico. I now know how to pay for the wall, letâs get rid of 50% of border agents.
Headed down highway 17 which is really pretty as you are basically in a mini grand canyon for many miles. Â Then we turned south on highway 24 which also followed a pretty canyon area and lakes. The only issue is both highways were highly damaged by trucks that have caused lots of waves in the road as their heavy wheels slam down and compress the asphalt. Â In many places we were doing 45mph. Â
Got to Columbia Sun RV park in Kennewick just before 3pm and once set up, played ball with Ms. Bella before heading to the pool for a nice swim. Â
This officially concludes the Alaska Trip
Stats: Â RV Miles â 5,942
     Gallons of Diesel â 744
