It's not all of 4chan, it's only certain groups from /b/ and /pol/ - please remember that and don't generalize the community, I know there are plenty of people on 4chan who are sensible and some 4channers have visibily thanked me for not generalizing the entire community.
Also, apparently a still active blog on tumblr started it which caused the /pol/ thing in the first place, but I don't want anyone to think they are at fault if they were not involved. I'm glad you appreciate the information.
