@airlegacy sent: The peacock-pigeon had been entrusted with a mission of great importance, and he carried it with all the pomp his brilliantly fanned tail believed it deserved. The ribbon-bound letter tucked securely against his leg had come from the Avatar himself, which, in the bird's estimation, elevated this delivery well above the ordinary scraps and trinkets lesser messengers ferried across the world. He landed and puffed out his iridescent chest until it gleamed emerald and sapphire in the light, and waited expectantly for the recipient to acknowledge his arrival.
The peacock-pigeon cocked his head first one way, then the other, one bright eye fixed stubbornly on the still figure before him. He shuffled sideways with tiny, deliberate steps, claws clicking softly beneath him, before giving an impatient flick of his extravagant tail feathers. Surely she simply had not noticed him yet. That had to be it. He was far too magnificent to be ignored.
When even that failed to earn so much as a glance, indignation flared through the little courier. His feathers ruffled until he resembled an offended puffball crowned in jeweled plumage, and his wings gave an agitated flutter. If subtlety had failed, then there remained only one perfectly reasonable course of action.
The first screech shattered the quiet, echoing through the room, shrill enough to rattle windows and offend every person within earshot. Unsatisfied, the peacock-pigeon drew another determined breath and unleashed a second cry, louder than the first, hopping in place with mounting irritation. If this remarkably inattentive human insisted on pretending he was invisible, then he would simply become impossible to ignore. After all, the Avatar was waiting for his letter to be delivered, and the peacock-pigeon intended to fulfill his duty, even if it required announcing his presence to half the Earth Kingdom.
Peaceful silence like this is a rare occurance on the metal bending academy , there's no loud chatters , no disturbance on earth , no yelling from toph that they did things wrong , the students are on a break after all there's a 3 day festival going on in yu dao && toph being the nice person she is , had allowed them to take it easy. Meaning there's no classes. It also means that toph is more than happy to indulge herself with this momentarily quietness.
It was just her alone in the academy, she never thought she would miss this kind of privacy , her students had long left to enjoy the festivities , && toph was lounging around the courtyard's floor. She was leaning agains the rock platform she had earthbended from the ground , busy cleaning her toes when an unexpected visitor arrived. The moment it had landed on the ground, Toph had ignored it, to her defense birds && animals of all sorts are pretty common in the academy, they would always perch && observe . Toph didn't bother to give them attention since they are nothing but back ground noise only to her senses.
The ignoring had dragged on . As the earthbender actually shifted on her side to take a nap, which is a mistake for toph's part, when she was about to be lulled into sleep . A loud screeching sound exploded next to her causing her to immediately stand up and cover her sensitive ears to protect them , infact the sound was so loud that it caused for the trees outside to shake , smaller birds had flew away in fear . With her will power, toph placed her hand on the ground to find out the source of her disturbance, once she realized it was the same bird who perched few minutes ago , the earthbender walked towards it's direction and immediately shut it up by holding it's beak close together , she can apologize for being not gentle but now she needs it to shut up.
β What the hell is your problem!? β Toph grumbled loudly, still whincing at the pain of her ears. She sent sightless glare towards the bird && if someone was with her right now, they might see something out of this world. Toph Beifong the greatest earthbender having a beef with a peacock pigeon .
β What is this ? β Releasing it's beak she started patting over the bodice of the said avian, once her hand landed at the familiar engraved swirls on it's carrier, Toph knew who exactly it came from. βAang! β
