Also, I think it's gross how some fans are stealing people's works to train large language models with so that they can do whatever they want with people's works. Real d**k move too.

I keep getting this ad for an ai fan fiction app (which: ew) but it opens by saying “Wouldn’t it be amazing to be able to create your own fan fiction?”
It is amazing. And very easy. You don’t even have to share it online. You don’t even need to write it down. You can just imagine your own fanfiction in your head without an artificial intelligence to spit out the same tropes and garbage or “fulfill your description”.
I’m begging you. If you’re so desperate to read this fanfiction you’ve been imagining in your head: WRITE IT.
If you can’t write, write it anyways! Make it yourself! It’s so much more satisfying I swear to the you! If you’re really really desperate to read something written by someone else: pay someone! Ask a friend! Anything but contributing to the ai slopification of one of my favorite hobbies.
