that AI compass quiz is...not good. it doesn't weigh different answers properly. i took it and it categorised me as 'the founder' (along with Sam Altman) even though i think we should smash the data centres, halt AI progress and strip Sam Altman of everything he has. i think there's about a 70% chance that AI will cause human extinction within (what would've been) my lifetime but the quiz only asked one question about Doom and somehow that didn't override all of the other questions! bad quiz, poorly designed, 1/10

The genre of reality may be tragedy, but it's a well-written tragedy. The AI 'good guys' succeed in beating the 'bad guys' and it ends up not mattering. Their moral character wasn't enough to stop the apocalypse. It required far more than victory, the results were already set in stone when the race began

on the other hand, anything that slows down the AI race is probably good?

on the third mutant hand, having such easily discredited arguments discredits you in the eyes of the general public

on the fourth hand, it seems actually the general public are quite credible about panics.
