I had one moment that I really enjoyed in TLJ and it was the last scene: the power of stories and a slave boy staring at the stars. It was the closest thing to a Star Wars moment I have felt yet from the sequels.
I’m gonna be That Bitch and even take issue with that. It was decidedly un-Star Warsy, in my opinion, because the slave boy was a nameless character who had only briefly interacted with the supporting cast. The last scene of each movie always focuses on one or more members of the Skywalker family, in some way, because they are what the story is about. Star Wars is not the story of the Everyman. It’s a powerful story and it can give people hope but that is not itself part of the narrative. That ending felt both too meta and too far from the point, to me.
Honestly, I thought the moment that came closest to feeling like real Star Wars was the scene with Rey and Kylo and Snoke.

I initially bought the fanbooks for the sort of silliness that got shared around, and then I found the meta section and it was fascinating? Part of my rekindled interest in DGM came from discovering the level of planning and thought put into it, so when I got the chance to read the author speaking about it in a way that made my read much richer I loved it.
I was also bothered by the misinformation that came my way, but it’s safe to say that sharing information you can only find in japanese is my reason to be here. Of course, nothing makes me happier than fulfilling my goal! Thanks for telling me!
