Actually it's a good thing that I accidentally missed the abstract deadlines for the conferences I had wanted to apply to because I accidentally set myself up for trying to revise three different papers (including the one I'm working on now) into publishable material over the course of this year, and there are three different groups of profs who are going to be holding me to those revisions.

#idk but i may have jumped in too quickly responding to a person in this meeting #it might have read as aggressive #and she's my boss lol and i've already pissed her off once #ahahahaha oops

So I do this thing, in conversations, where I start topic-hopping until I’m playing conversational hopscotch. Knitting my tangents together into a tangent-scarf. Usually a few minutes into this, someone will politely shoulder in to get us back on topic or I wind up apologizing and trying to give the reins back to whoever was talking when I broke in with ‘well, actually--!’ or ‘oh, that reminds me--!’

Today I went out for coffee and noms with two women from my improv class who I am fond of but not yet friends with, and realized I’d been doing this for a solid hour and somehow gotten us from gun control to comparative biology. And not only were they letting me talk, they were actively encouraging me to keep going.

There are few things nicer than talking to people you wish to think well of you and realizing that they think better of you than you do of yourself.

#today was a good day #in spite of (or maybe because of?) the fact that I woke up at noon #improv class was at 1 #ahahahaha oops #but I was on time so w/e #too much inanity not enough tea (the please stop talking tag)#I am sure there is a word for the exact kind of social incompetence I regularly display #but I do not have that word #and no one has ever diagnosed me with anything #not that that says much because they also never diagnosed the dyslexia and I am dyslexic as FUCK
