a week. it’s been a week since berlin. since siberia. since rhodey feel from the sky and tony’s entire life was turned upside down. not long enough to recover -- bruises still litter his face and body. as for the emotional scars... well, it still hurts too much to be called a SCAR.Â
he’s decided to move to the compound, permanently. it will never be his sole residence but there are so few avengers left now. he and pepper aren’t living together again, not yet. soon, he thinks, but not yet. and rhodey will be out of the hospital soon -- and then tony can be here for him. it’s the LEAST he can do.Â
and so tony’s wandering the hallways, trying to decide which laboratory to claim as his. trying not to think about how EMPTY this place feels now. ( if it feels empty, that just means he has to find more people to fill it. ) it’s there that he almost bumps into roxy; the first time he’s seen her since berlin. it’s something of a relief to see that she’s okay ( there’s no reason for her not to be, but god, the rest of this team is in pieces. ) it’s almost a surprise to see that she’s still here -- when so many others have left. but he’s glad.Â
“ah, sorry,” he mutters, running a hand through his hair, a smile that barely lasts a second. “have you been--- how long have you been here?”
