Soldier's Things // Ward & Jemma
The mission was a blueprint, precise and premeditated. Truthfully, it gave her something besides her experiments to look at. She needed the experience of feeling useful again; a monkey was capable of running the routine lab work she'd been good for lately.
She sighed inwardly at the thought of a monkey, knowing both Trip and Bobbi had eyes on her as she crossed the breezeway. Their mark had been intercepted, a scientist who'd transitioned to a posting with the CIA a few years back. Jemma had a rapport established, which was the only reason Bobbi wasn't the one crossing the airport people-mover instead.
In the end, she only looked away for half a moment, turning to watch the aeronautic certainty of machine-powered flight. Looking back, she would know that was her first mistake... but in the moment, it was only meant to be a search for the deep grounding only the laws of physics could give her.
