dude dude, your post made me realize there's an interesting parallel between the rex and the raptors. the raptors from the beginning are being sought out for the purpose of being used as killing machines when in fact they're just animals and shouldn't be exploited as such, and then you've got the rex who has been genetically mortified to the point she is killing machine but wants to be exploited for the purpose of being another animal in the attraction.
Oh, thatās a brilliant comparison. Like, this movie has so many damn layers; the meta-satire of the series & its place in our contemporary world is so incredible, like if you replaceĀ ādinosaursā withĀ ācgiā, it reflects the evolution of film & how back in the 90ā²s, just having the dinosaurs exist / cgi present was enough of aĀ āwowā factor, but now they have to do so much more to evoke the same reaction.
I noticed that from the beginning, Claire referred to the Indominus Rex as either anĀ āassetā orĀ āit,ā something that was obviously deliberate, whereas when Owen was first introduced to the I. Rex, he referred to the dinosaur asĀ āher,ā orĀ āshe,ā using the pronouns for her gender. Likely this comes from the difference of viewing the dinosaurs as animals versus attractions.Ā
However, what was interesting is that about half-way through the film & facing off against the I. Rex, after Owen has discovered the various modifications done & essentially that itās a killing machine, he begins to refer to the I. Rex asĀ āitā as well, to distance himself from the idea that the I. Rex is an animal as his velociraptors are animals.Ā
It didnāt even seem like a conscious switch in language, just something that happened naturally as the situation evolved but it made such a difference from how heād previously referred to the dinosaurs in the park that it was instantly obvious, & I just liked the inclusion of it.

yeah like that was a bad idea, and okay I havenāt read the book so i donāt know but the thing that kills me is that they have wings. like everything else is totally contained by the fact that itās on a island, except them, because they have wings.
