I don’t think that Maddie actually had feelings for Patrick. I think she did actually fall for Ezra and didn’t fully realize it and then they moved from that job to the next so quickly that she didn’t really have time think about it and the new mark that they gave her was such a dick and she was craving that feeling of love and compassion that she had so when Patrick came into her life she tried to recreate that real feeling that she had when she was with Ezra. I don’t think that Patrick actually fell for Maddie either I think that he fell for the control that he thought he had in the “relationship.” Like Cook (his supervisor lady) said in season two, in his family life he had issues with his wife having a high powered career and taking care of the kids so he always felt insecure in the relationship. With Maddie he thought that he had the power since he was scamming her and he fell for how secure he felt in that relationship.
