Barrett / Ron:

badass but disillusioned agent who wears a suit, works alone, and talks in low tones

secret government branch also but this one has some deep-seated trust issues

Carter’s/Reagan’s agency’s rival until they start working together and he learns to trust her, if not anybody else

“You’re the one who’s always talking about trust” x “So we’ve both been keeping secrets” vibes

I’m not saying I ship Carter/Barrett the way I ship Reagan/Staedtler (the dynamics do have significant differences after all), but their similarities were striking in the scene after the “Smoke & Mirrors” explosion. Idk what it was about that exchange in particular… I haven’t re-watched Inside Job in months so I might be missing a Reagan/Staedtler moment parallel to that scene, not to mention some other general overlap I could have noted above, but yeah. I had to make this post lol.

Lorne x Barrett office smut: A little effort

Evan Lorne, agent of the National Intelligence Department, carefully held back a smirk as Agent Barrett opened his own office door and curtly gestured Evan inside. Something must have got him really worked up; he didn’t often risk letting off steam at work like this. 

“Debrief went that well, did it?” Evan said mildly once the door was shut— and locked, he noted with interest— behind the two of them. 

“Un-fucking-believable,” Barrett groused, stalking up and walking Evan backwards. Barrett’s hands were already at Evan’s belt, unbuckling it with quick, irritable movements. He was impatiently moving onto Evan’s button and fly before he’d even finished backing Evan up against his desk. “I don’t know what these idiots are thinking out there, sometimes.” 

Evan licked his lips, enjoying the view as Barrett dropped straight to his knees while muttering and scowling. “Only sometimes?” 

“Yeah, good point,” Barrett agreed, tugging Evan’s suit pants and underwear down with one firm yank. “Most of the fucking time.”

Well, today while driving home, middle of the interstate I start talking to myself. (This isn't uncommon). However, the conversation, debate, arguement, vent session and/or rant that continued was about Sam/Pete and Sam/Jack. I have no idea what caused this to come to mind. I was driving, wasnt even listening to music at this time. But all of a sudden out of my mouth flies, "Barrett would have been such a better, more interesting, complex relationship to have put Sam in. Not the bumbling, clumsy, stalker (I later bring this back up, breaking into the "someone would have informed Hammond of this..." speil) that was Pete. A relationship was important for Sam and for the drama, but stepping back Pete was never really a believable threat."
