One has to wonder why we don’t really hear of Acrisius cheating on Aganippe or at least seeking a new wife, we don’t even hear of him banishing or killing her for trying to help Danaë and Perseus, in fact Aganippe stays in Argos when Acrisius ran away. So Aganippe got to reunite with her daughter and maybe got to stick around for the birth of some of her great grandchildren.
So what gives? I like to think that Acrisius married at a young age (for men of the time period) bc he wanted to one up his brother by getting married and starting a family first, so when Proetus got married too and had tons of children that obviously made Acrisius mad, but Aganippe makes up for her “infertility” by being Acrisius second in command, she hates Proetus almost as much as Acrisius does and he yearns for that understanding, he yearns for someone who doesn’t think he’s dramatic for hating his brother. That’s why he can’t bring himself to ever blame her for not giving him an heir, that’s why he can’t banish or kill her bc she’s the only one to understand him.
