Good art speaks to you and says different things to you when you need it to. I've always loved this song since it was released, definitely one of my favorites on this album. But it really clicked with me this morning. This is Laura talking to Tom and telling him how she doesn't owe him anything. And it definately explains feelings that I couldn't have ever described before starting this journey. Feelings that would have been impossible for me to explain before, having never thought they were possible. The line about a full body high at the end of the song really got me, especially having so recently experienced the euphoria of presenting in my correct gender for the first time just a few weeks ago.
I use music as a major coping mechanism. If any of you are just now starting to follow me, this is why I've filled my page with pretty much nothing but music. If I've learned anything from this journey so far, it's that I need to listen. If there is a piece of art or music that resonates with you or you can't stop listening to the same song over and over again and can't pinpoint why, maybe look into yourself. Really listen to the words. Find out what they mean to you. You might just learn something about yourself.
Against Me! - Black Me Out
I don't ever want to talk that way again
I don't want to know people like that anymore
As if there was an obligation
As if I owed you something
Black me out
I want to piss on the walls of your house
I want to chop those brass rings off
Your fat fucking fingers
As if you were a king-maker
As if, as if, as if
Black me out
I don't want to see the world that way anymore
I don't want to feel that weak and insecure
As if you were my fucking pimp
As I was your fucking whore
Black me out
I want to piss on the walls of your house
I want to chop those brass rings
Off your fat fucking fingers
As if you were a king-maker
As if, as if, as if
Black me out
All the young graves filled
Don't the best all burn out
So bright and so fast?
Full body high
I'm never coming down
Black me out

Also proud of this one, though it doesn’t get as much attention on my channel as my other one.

Was quite proud of myself with this one.
Central New Jersey alternative rock outfit Bobby Mahoney, newly signed to Stevie Van Zandt's Wicked Cool Records, has released "We Go On," the next single off the band's upcoming label debut, 'Another Deadbeat Summer,' out June 14.
