Because I have ARFID and am vegan I’m apparently not allowed to complain about losing safe foods or ask for food to be accommodated. Because I have ARFID and am vegan it’s too many things to need to accommodate for, and it’s my fault as a vegan with ARFID to lose safe foods because I personally decided to cut off so much food anyways. The thing is, I’ve been vegan for six years. Even if I did drop my vegan ideology (which will never happen), meat and other animal products taste disgusting to me now. They aren’t my safe food I just refuse to eat,, they straight up aren’t safe foods. I bet there is plenty ARFID-havers with accidentally vegan or vegetarian diets, meat is chewy and gross and often brings diseases which is a common fear for those with ARFID. It just feels like an excuse to disregard my veganism and be ableist at the same time.
Sorry if this doesn’t really fit on your blog
I've heard this kind of thing before unfortunately, in cases where someone has some other restrictive food issue as well as being vegan, there is an attitude of: "Well why did you make it even worse?" Frankly, the reasons behind someone's restrictions are none of anyone's business. If somebody tells you that all they will eat are potatoes and pizza, and provides no more reason than "that is what I want to eat," then you should do your best to accomodate them. If someone's restriction really does mean that accomodating them becomes impractical, they will no doubt expect that and will have planned accordingly. That's how it used to be for people who were just vegan, back when options were very limited. The good people in your life will show their care for you by going out of their way to accomodate you. Someone who is happy for you to be uncomfortable because of something as simple as not bothering to make sure you had access to food you will eat, is showing you how little they are willing to do to make you feel included.
