Yes, because I am weak, have needs, and no self-control, it’s about 99% likely I will end up writing the full trilogy. I’m just about to finish book 1 (the alchemical wedding), and the muse is already bashing me over the head with ideas for book 2. That will, we all know, lead inevitably into book 3, which I also have ideas for, though I have not yet worked out quite as many details. I have not yet come up with a title for book 3, though we will get there.

Hoooooooo Lord. Okay. Honestly, I think a lot of it is on Frank at this point. Because Karen is there. She is the one who has consistently been there, who has helped him, who has tried, and she is the one who comes back again and again, which I have a lot of feelings about from a shipper perspective, but realistically that can’t be a solid basis for a good relationship. So, yes. Frank. 

Frank, god bless him, needs to (and I mean this in the most loving way possible) get over himself. He needs help. He has PTSD, he has trauma out the wazoo, he has a shit ton of self-loathing that is at least partly why he pushes Karen away. He needs help. And more, he needs to LET people help him. And I don’t mean in the physical “shoot-em-up” kind of way. In an emotional support kind of way. Because he is so afraid of losing her (or anyone) that he won’t let himself really get close. No matter how much he needs her, as long as he thinks she’s better off/safer without him and that their respective wants/needs are less important than that, they won’t be able to really start. And that is not something he’s going to be able to work through on his own.  

I think they also need to sit down and have a nice long talk about Karen’s past (even the not-so-recent past, looking at you DDS3), because at least some of his reluctance (in addition to being terrified of getting close to someone for them to be taken away from him again) is because I do think he has her on somewhat of a pedestal. He knows she’s not perfect, he knows she has some darkness in her, but it’s clear at least to me that there’s still a part of him that thinks she’s so much better than he is and that she can’t really understand. But…she can. And I think it would be good for both of them to clear the air to the extent that she isn’t perfect and that part of why she and Matt don’t work (since Frank is still apparently on that) is because Matt wants her to be something she isn’t. Let them talk about Fisk! Let them talk about Wesley! Let them talk about her brother, dammit!

Basically, they need to do a lot more SPOKEN communicating (as much as I adore their unspoken soulmate nonsense), and be open and clear about what they actually want from each other, and on Karen’s end I think she needs to not take no for an answer once they do. Within reason. Because I don’t think either of them need to be jumping headfirst into anything and boundaries are important and should be respected, but he needs to stop pushing her away and she needs to stop letting him. And until they establish at least a baseline of that, they won’t be able to start anything that’s really sustainable. 

But also for the love of god let them kiss I’m shallow

And now the entire time team is complicit in Flynn killing people since they ALL went back to give him the journal. Everyone is garbage and everyone is guilty by this train of thought. I cannot B E L I E V E. Erase all of this from my memory!!

See. Seeeeeee. This is why all the people yelling at him/cursing him make me cackle a bit, because ever since he showed up they have:

made out in the snow

cuddled all the way to Arkhangelsk

held onto each other while he was getting his leg fixed

shared a bed/cuddled/nearly kissed

had the “good morning my love” moment (and then Panic)

Matija being like “yeah so why does that dude not give you what you deserve”

had more Panic on Flynn’s part after TRK showed up to talk to Lucy in person, came very close to feelings confession

had the “I’m not good enough for you” moment

had the most Tender (tm) of makeouts in the bedroom

actually outright defied the damn Raven King (both of them) when he asked for Lucy to come with him

had him then spell out for them that these two fools are in desperate love and belong to each other

more cuddles, emotional talks about their pasts, close quarters snuggling and heartfelt apologies

AND SO ON.

@saettres, yeah, I was in THG fandom circa 2012-2015.  I kind of got burnt out eventually as the fandom mood moved towards “Everlark in any modern AU possible” when I was there for other characters and for the worldbuilding potential the books brought up, and we just went our separate ways.
