Coincidentally, I am also re-reading S&SM right now, so if I do say so myself, it is considerably enjoyable and it has definitely been one of my most popular (if not THE most popular) of my Timeless/Garcy fics. And indeed, the Sokolovs became so popular that they're now making a second appearance in Alchemical Wedding, and I wrote a stand-alone fic (with bonus post-epilogue domestic fluffy Garcy) with Ada and Matija in faerie. I would give you the link but I'm on mobile, but it's called "dancing on the hands of time" if you want to search for it. God I am glad my blog is back. Ahem.

Hehe, thanks. I obviously am fond of all my fics, but this one was especially fun and magical and Emotions (I wrote that in just over two months, which may be a record even for me, and I write A Lot). I was and am absolutely delighted by how much people enjoyed it, even if this often involved screaming at me. I am aware that I deserved it, but also yes. I was not totally evil. I would like that noted down.

Don’t worry, I think you will be satisfied by the epilogue. And a la CN where people keep asking me for more of it, I have a feeling that there will be plenty more requests for more from this universe, so we won’t be saying goodbye to them altogether. But we have reached the plot points that I wanted to conclude with, as well as the emotional place, so that’s where that will be.

Anyway, however, yes. There will by all means be more of it, whether in the fic proper or in subsidiary one-shots or prompt fills or whatever people ask for. I am, after all, not totally evil.

Yep, I think that was what happened, that she helped him feel/experience a bit of his lost humanity after 400-odd years in Faerie, and that he didn't want to do the same thing to her that he had done to his last wife. I was very conscious of the fact that I wanted to subvert the trope of two men fighting over Lucy (as Flynn already noped out of doing when he pointed out he couldn't fight Korvin anyway and would not stand in the way of Lucy making the choice if she did want to go with TRK). So it's not that they have to fight their way away from Matija and that he remains in his old/toxic masculinity ways of doing things, but rather that he is changed for the better by meeting her and by seeing Lucy and Flynn's love and not wanting to do the same thing again. And that is what makes him voluntarily decide to let them go, and to decide that laws without mercy might be bad laws, and that he wants to change his own behavior as a result.

As noted in the chapter itself, there are also some literary echoes (Arthur/Guinevere/Lancelot) and a call back to traditional fairy tales where the lovers find their way into Faerie and have to prove their devotion to each other through trials and thus become worthy to return to the world (aka Hero's Journey stuff, heh). So that was where my thinking was with that, and it was fun to play a bit with Faerie and the magic of that.

In my defense, I would like to point out that The Americans was tagged for angst/major character death out the wazoo (both here and on Ao3) and I'm pretty sure nobody was going into that expecting a totally happy ending. (And the ending that it did have was imho very fitting, hence the bittersweet ending tag, though some people seemed to think otherwise, hehe.) So yes, you were well warned for that. XD

As for Tangled Web, yes, yes it was cruel of me. But even that angst served a purpose in setting up the whole backstory for canon and Timeline Zero and exploring what their relationship was like the first time and why they are still so connected in the show and all my feels. But I don't think any of my multi-chapter fics for any fandom have ever ended deliberately unhappily and/or unsatisfyingly, so yes. I am sensible of the fact that angst is, in a good story, meant to enrich and drive the plot forward and pay off in satisfying ways, and I don't write grimdark or pointless suffering.

I may be laughing a bit, because everyone was yelling at him like crazy in earlier chapters, while the whole time I was over here like SHHH HE’S ACTUALLY A SHIPPER HE’S JUST NOT DOING IT RIGHT (much, one may remark, like our favorite Garbage Lord himself). Now Matija actually figured out how to ship them correctly, and everyone is like “hoo well then okay we like you, you are not so bad, we can deal with it, WE’RE COOL.”

Welp. I assume this is in reference to SSM chapter 23?

If it helps, the story is not over, and we have more exploring of Faerie to do and certainly some big moments for Lucy and Flynn as they face this new situation and what it means both now and overall. So it's not gonna be a Tangled Web situation where I drop a giant Boulder of Angst on you and that's the end of the story, heh.
