Nyx was sitting outside on the balcony of the Aether Foundation that night. The air was cool, and the breeze was gentle. As she gazed out into the never ending ocean.
She seemed rigid. On edge. As if something was causing her mind to become clouded.
The woman was never good at handling emotions, and at the moment, she felt as though they were coming in on waves. Her hard exterior starting to crack under pressure.
Anxiety, Panic. It was all bubbling under the surface.
Your not good enough, you donât belong here, their all going to die because of you, stupid girl, Someone else can protect them, You are un-needed.
The words kept rolling over in her mind, causing her pupils to shrink in size, her breathing becoming haggard, hands trembling as they gripped onto the rail.
She felt sick, nausea causing her to raise her fingers to cover her mouth.
What was triggering these feelings?
Was it because she hadnât seen Lusamine in so long?
Was it because of the mistakes she had made?
Possibly, It could be the lack of time sheâs had, Unable to accomplish any sort of assignment.
Or the lack of contact she has had with anyone in the Foundation?
Regardless of why, nothing seemed to be stopping her from falling to her knees, tears blurring her vision, Panic coming over the fact she couldnât hold it together.
âDear Tapu LeleâŠ..What am I supposed to do?â Her voice cracked as she covered her face. âI canât lead like thisâŠ.How does the Dear Lady Expect me to lead when I am told I am nothing? I am so confusedâŠ.I am so lostâŠ..I need guidance.â she whispered.
It was another night Florie spent hours trying to fall asleep, only to give up eventually. There was little point in it when she knew all it would lead to would be restlessness at best and nightmares at worst. She could go back to her office and get more work done. Or take a walk.
Aether Paradise was always quiet at night, without the busy employees and trial goers and other visitors running around the VLFS, and she liked it that way. She didnât have many opportunities to spend time alone outside of her office, to be able to enjoy the silence without anything but the sea and occasional pokĂ©mon cries in the background. Peaceful.
This peace didnât last long, however, as she picked up another sound. A strangely familiar voice... calling for help? She followed the sound to its source, and nothing could have prepared her for finding Lady Nyx on the ground, going through what was obviously a panic attack (Florie was way too familiar with those). Was she... crying?
Florie didnât waste another moment as she rushed to the head enforcerâs side, freeing her comfey from her pokĂ©ball. Fey didnât need an explanation; once she confirmed it wasnât her trainer who was in distress, she focused entirely on Nyx, wrapping her flower tail around the womanâs hand and chirping softly.
Florie herself knelt down beside her, careful not to touch her. âLady Nyx,â she said, gently but firmly. âCan you hear me?â
