So, everyone is sitting in class one day. They are studying Greek history, or French history, or something like that and the teacher pulls up a slide with some handsome dudeâs face on it.
âThatâs hot,â Marinette said, almost instinctively. The entire class whips around to look at her. Embarrassed, she blushes. Thankfully, she has the best friend in the world. Alya backs her up saying âYou got that right, sister.â and high-fiving her.Â
The class looks back at the slides. They see it to now. The soft eyes, the smooth lips, the chiseled jaw (thatâs a bust pun). They get it, and start nodding along with her and Alya.Â
Adrien isnât amused for some reason. âIsnât he a bit old for you?â he asks bitterly.
âIâm not looking for a date,â Marinette says, âI can admire while realizing there is no potential.â Over the years, she settled on the fact that adriennet could never happen. Once she accepted that, it was a lot easier to talk to him. Irony.
âCâmon,â Adrien continued to complain, âAs the male model of the room, sure heâs hot but heâs not the hottest there is.â
âI wouldnât say that, but Iâm definitely hotter than that dweb.â Adrien couldnât explain it, but the thought of Marinette liking that jerk made him all red on the inside. Made him want to fight someone. âAnd unlike him, you can actually date me.â
âAdrien,â Marinette sighed, not realizing exactly what he was suggesting, âI canât date you. Weâre best friends. I do love you, but youâre like a brother to me.â
âWell what if I want to be more than your brother. What if I want to be your boyfriend.â
Marinette realized what he was suggesting. He wanted to date her. Him, Adrien Agreste, Wanted to be her boyfriend. She felt the butterflies from her old crush returning. She blushed deeply.Â
âAdrien, what exactly are you suggesting?â
âIâm suggesting you all return you the lesson at hand.â Their teacher interrupted. âWe have a lot to cover, so no more sidetrackingâ
Marinette returned to her notes with fruition. She had just thoroughly embarrassed herself and Adrien. He would probably never want to talk to her again. She was so caught up in her notes and existential crisis, she didn't notice the note until the very end of class. It was a simple note, written in Adrien's graceful cursive.
