Miscellaneous thoughts…

*spoilers*

There’s always that moment, that moment when a character decides for sure where her desires lie. Diana getting in the car with Matthew was both an act of rebellion (since Gillian was calling her out in front of Matthew) and one of desire.

I prefer Matthew’s french name to his English name ;)

The mention of Louisa and Phillipe definitely had me thinking, well of course they’ll show up at some point… even though they’re “dead”.

Don’t really understand why Satu is all of a sudden on the congregation, I feel like she’s a stranger and shouldn’t have that power. But of course, we know what Knox really wants her for. Either way, there should be more push back from the other witches, no? Saying that, we’ve seen how they act around a “senior witch” and they totally believe everything he says, and don’t ever question it.

Matthew testing Diana’s power was so fun. I hadn’t read the book before seeing the show initially, so I was just as intrigued about her magic, wondering how she accessed the book, etc.

In this episode is when Emily first mentions to Sarah about a man in the shadows following Diana…

Back at Matthew’s grand house, they talk a little about themselves:

Diana talking about his age: “The things you must have seen.”

Matthew: “…and done.”

She then immediately invites him to dinner in the ultimate, “I’m not afraid of you” move!

Playing Demons by Imagine Dragons when we first meet Sophie and Nathaniel is a bit on the nose but I dig it. Here, we learn that Daemons can be/are born to humans.

Nathaniel tells his mom Agatha that they’ve (the Congregation) given him a day to close a chat room he created for other Daemon’s to use to communicate with each other. His mother (also a congregation member) tells him it’s against the rules. Was it like this in the book? I don’t remember Daemon’s not being allowed to talk to each other? That seems…insane. So not only can the different species not talk to each other, but Daemon’s can’t have any sort of community at all? :(

In the next scene Miriam calls Matthew out for craving Diana and mentions the congregation rule. He seems to think they won’t enforce it but we know from the scene before, they absolutely will.

This is such a good episode! Matthew and Diana have dinner and they talk about legends and myths, and it’s all very light. Until she asks him what she would taste like. I mean… the sexy danger is right there, and it’s delicious.

I want Matthew to tell me I smell like willow sap!!! Haha <3

Diana closing her eyes as Matthew talks about her “witches blood”, is *chefs kiss* perfect. And this whole thing is one of my favourite scenes, right down to the awkward, I-would-totally-die-if-he-did-that-to-me kiss non kiss. Ahh!!!

Fucking Gillian! Diana is clearly distraught and angry showing you actual photos of her dead parents and you’re all, “are you gonna give the book to the vampire?”

The Witchwind seemed so traumatising for Diana.

Matthew: “I’ve never felt so protective, over anyone.”

This is it, guys! This. Is. The. Moment!

Matthew: “I’m taking you home with me to France.”

Also, can anyone ever just watch this scene once? I watched it like six times just during this rewatch. I kept going back for one more, just one more!

- The argument between Nat and his mom, her position on the congregation, etc. was layered not just in terms of their species but could be a parallel through which one could discuss marginalized groups (the writer’s are killing it on this show)

- What’s Miriam’s beef

- Not that anyone does but I really don’t like Knox

- Matt deconstructing a wine’s ingredient makeup is my new kink
