Matthew & Diana arrive at Sept-Tours, ride horses & dance, Ysabeau is Ysabeau, Marthe is Marthe…

But most importantly, Baldwin finally appears!

Misc thoughts...

*spoilers*

They cast Ysabeau and Marthe so perfectly. I’m glad they changed Ysabeau up for the show. Though, going back and reading the book was a bit tricky, because of all the things that make her “young”, and I’m over here picturing Lindsay Duncan.

I loved Miriam’s comments to Juliet but I felt she could have been a bit harder on her. And also, TELL MATTHEW!!!

The attaching magic key thing the head creatures had to do to get into the congregation room was pretty cool.

Any Moonlight fans? I love that Sophia Myles plays Rebecca Bishop. #fandomscollide

We finally meet Baldwin!!!

He is so fucking intense! “As head of your family, you can’t refuse me.” Oop.

We find out that Philippe (Matthew’s father) created the congregation years and years ago, and that Baldwin is currently the head of the congregation, though it is made up of three from each species.

The congregation going at it is rather fun to watch, and something missing from the books. It’s like the show is a perfect companion piece.

It’s kind of telling that Agatha (a daemon) is doing research in the corridor of the main building used for meetings, yet we see the witches in their own wing with a full on set of books and cool things, and a place to work. Also, she’s talking to Sophie on the phone about secret daemon things with vampires right there somewhere in the building. Tut tut.

We get some cute horse riding from Diana and Matthew, and some kissing, and this is a really good episode! So much going on.

I wish we had a read on how vampires senses work, like how far can they hear? How fast can they run?

In the books, Sophie just appears really, and we get little bits of information on how she came to learn about Diana and why she’s seeking her out. In the show, she talks about her dreams of Diana, Sept-Tours with the towers, and even a dark king (Matthew).

I kind of love the respect aspect of Matthew asking his mother to dance first...

The dancing was great in the book, but getting to really see it, as they’re spinning, and then Diana shimmering was so beautiful. 💛

Domenico arrives and mentions something about the Knights Templar...

He tells Diana that Matthew is breaking the covenant by being with her. Something she didn’t previously know about. Uh oh! :/

“Even de Clairmont’s can die,” he says as he leaves kind of scared with his tail between his legs. Seems he forgot who Matthew is. *shakes head*

Matthew then tells his mother in (Occitan) French that he loves Diana. Eeeek!!!

But then Matthew is almost cruel to Diana when he tells her they won’t be breaking the covenant, and he is leaving for Oxford. He tells her she doesn’t know him, and doesn’t even know herself. *cries* :( I hate this scene. I love this scene. I HATE this scene!

Diana begins to cry rain, the power of him leaving cuts so deep. And I don’t want them to be apart!!!

Anyone watching? Or reading? I just started book 2, welp!

- I really think the congregation forget who tf Matthew be... Domenico was scurred after he showed up at Sept-Tours

- When Diana tells Matt to stop. And he has to take a breath to gain the courage to push her away

- I hate when my parents fight
