23 years ago, on the day he was convicted, Adnan Sayed turned to the advocates sobbing behind him and said “Allah knows I am innocent, it’s okay”.

Giant events came, one after another. He didn't have time to wrestle them into comprehension.

THE JINX, SERIAL and MAKING A MURDERER
THE JINX, SERIAL and MAKING A MURDERER
I’ve spent this festive season buried neck deep in true crime series featuring amazing investigative journalism. I’ve spent most of my free time theorising and speculating. These past few weeks have served as a major reality check for me. This post is dedicated to three great stories that have bothered me, scared me and frustrated me. The Jinx…

I recently had dinner with one of my college roommates and we spent the vast majority of the night discussing books we’d recently read, movies we’d seen, and what we were binging on Netflix. She said that she really likes hearing what I’m indulging in and thinks I have great taste (thanks, Jen!). Over a bowl of guacamole and her constantly on the move toddler, we talked pop culture and how it…

this is an incredible mashup, regardless if you do or don't know the Serial theme song. obviously it's way better if you've listened, though.
but if, for some reason, you haven't listened to the fabulous Serial podcast (which recently finished Season one) you really should.
I listened to the final episode of Serial.
In my heart of hearts, I really believe that Adnan is innocent. I just feel it, I dunno.
But if he did kill Hae, there definitely wasn't enough evidence to convict.
But either way, I feel like...Adnan seems like a genuinely nice, thoughtful guy. Like if he killed her, it seems like it is the type of thing he would never do again and if he gets released, he would not be a huge hindrance to society. Just hearing him talk about his life inside jail, or the letter he sent to SK, or him wanting her to just lay out the facts, or the fact that he even let her do the podcast in the first place...? I just don't see why a guilty person would do that? But then I am putting myself in his place, and I can't do that because we're not the same people.
I hope he and his family find peace. I might send him a little picture or something, I dunno. Rabia put up his address. I hope that Hae's family is doing okay wherever they are. This couldn't have been easy for them.
I don't necessarily think Jay killed Hae, but he was mad sus anyways.
If this podcast taught me anything, it's how fallible our memories are and how biased we can all be with things. Like no matter what, nothing is truly neutral and your personal opinions and thoughts can really color how you see things. Which is scary, but useful information.
Can't wait for next season. I hope it comes out sooner than later. Til then, I'll just be chilling with my TAL reruns.
I'm lowkey putting off listening to the last episode of the Serial Podcast. I don't want it to end!!! But I imagine we'll hear more about Adnan's case and his appeal and stuff. I hope things go well for him and his family. I also heard that some redditors from the Serial subreddit started a scholarship fund in Hae Min Lee's name which is really sweet. I hope her family approved it. I'm not sure they were able to find her family and ask them. So all in all some interesting stuff has come out of this podcast. I'm excited to hear the next season. I wonder when it will air and what it will be about?
