Adele Romanski (Best Picture, âMoonlightâ): Romanski will collaborate with âThe Myth of the American Sleepoverâ writer/director David Robert Mitchell once again on âUnder the Silver Lake,â his follow-up to âIt Follows.â
Dede Gardner (Best Picture, âMoonlightâ): she produced James Grayâs âThe Lost City of Z,â which arrives in theaters next month, David MichĂŽdâs âWar Machine,â Bong Joon-hoâs âOkja,â âWorld War Z 2,â the TV adaptation of âThe Departedâ and a miniseries about Lewis and Clark.
Jeremy Kleiner (Best Picture, âMoonlightâ): Kleiner, who works with Gardner at Plan B Entertainment, is also co-producing âWorld War Z 2,â âThe Departed,â âWar Machineâ and âOkja.â
Damien Chazelle (Best Director, âLa La Landâ): is set to helm âFirst Man.â A biopic following Neil Armstrong between 1961 and 1969, the adaptation of James Hansenâs biography âFirst Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrongâ will reunite Chazelle with Ryan Gosling.
Emma Stone (Best Actress, âLa La Landâ): The newly minted prizewinner has a whole host of forthcoming projects: âBattle of the Sexes,â which co-stars Steve Carell in a dramatization of the famous 1973 tennis match pitting Billie Jean King against Bobby Riggs; Cary Fukanagaâs Netflix series âManiac,â which reunites her with her âSuperbadâ co-star Jonah Hill; âLove May Fail,â an adaptation of the novel by Matthew Quick; and a âOne Hundred and One Dalmatiansâ spinoff in which she stars as Cruella de Vil.Â
Mahershala Ali (Best Supporting Actor, âMoonlightâ): His latest, âRoxanne Roxanne,â just premiered at Sundance, and heâll appear in Robert Rodriguezâs sci-fi thriller âAlita: Battle of Angelâ as well.Â
Viola Davis (Best Supporting Actress, âFencesâ): In addition to continuing her leading role on TVâs âHow to Get Away with Murder,â Davis will star as Harriet Tubman in Kirk Ellisâ biopic. Sheâs also been cast in âWidows,â Steve McQueenâs follow-up to â12 Years a Slave.â
Kenneth Lonergan (Best Original Screenplay, âManchester by the Seaâ): Lonergan is writing BBCâs miniseries adaptation of âHowards End,â which made its way to the silver screen 25 years ago as a Merchant Ivory production. This new take on E.M. Forsterâs novel will consist of four episodes.
Barry Jenkins (Best Adapted Screenplay, âMoonlightâ): heâs writing a limited series based on Colson Whiteheadâs best-selling novel âThe Underground Railroadâ and a feature about Claressa âT-Rexâ Shields, Americaâs first two-time Olympic boxing champion.
Tarell Alvin McCraney (Best Adapted Screenplay, âMoonlightâ): Heâs directing a new adaptation of Shakespeareâs âAntony and Cleopatraâ
Asghar Farhadi (Best Foreign-Language Film, âThe Salesmanâ): The two-time Oscar winner is set to collaborate with PenĂ©lope Cruz and Javier Bardem on an as-yet untitled Spanish-language production. Itâs been described to Variety as âa psychological thriller with a dash of Agatha Christieâ whose script is âa real page-turner.â
Ezra Edelman (Best Documentary, âO.J.: Made in Americaâ): Edelman is following up his acclaimed longform doc with âThe Ballad of Richard Jewell,â about the security guard who was accused of being a terrorist at the 1996 Olympic Games despite actually being a life-saving hero.
