The Come Up
It happens almost instantly and I find myself riding the come up A quiet warmth slowly crawls along my body And my mind forgets anything that it was thinking about
we both know it was you It’ fucking always is
My eyes turn up, showing just the whites and I’m drifting deeper into the abyss I’ve been this low before, and I will be again and I’m hoping this is the last time
I’m hoping I don’t wake up this time I’m praying that I can stop
The room is a dimly lit womb and as I fall into sleep I swear to everything I am that I can hear my mother’s heartbeat
She’s terrified that I’m going to die Just as much as I am that I’m still alive
I never wanted to turn out like this I had dreams that I was going to chase But I got winded on the first steps and now I don’t think about the future
as I fade, I whisper that I love you
