I headcanon (might not be the right word for it, I did make the character afterall) that the Action Gamemaster is something truly sinister. He's basically an egotistical scoundrel who's planning to bring the Active Enterprises brand back to life and into mainstream, and plans to do so by hijacking the video game market and absorbing every other game to rip assets into his own poorly made games, dominating the industry in the process.
If that sounds dumb, then please understand that he's effectively a fraud. He hardly even has any real coding experience, hence why he's asset-flipping. Besides, the Action Gamemaster is a handheld from the fourth generation. He can't even use much of the assets in modern games.
You know, aside from the completely ridiculous CD-ROM compatibility (I mean, they’d have to somehow have a disc drive plus Windows installed on it, on top of everything else) and the bafflingly pointless TV tuner and cigarette-lighter adapter, you could probably actually make this thing nowadays.
It would still look extremely silly, but y’know, stick a RetroPie or whatever in there and there ya go.
