Did you know there is a huge shortage of shepherds in the Netherlands? There are about 100 herds and not enough knowledgeable shepherds to guard and direct them. Maybe it's the same in Germany. Opportunity?

being a shepherd is really hard work and i don’t know if i’m cut out for it. it’s a very demanding and complex job. you don’t only have to take care of the sheep, but you need to have technical skills and sometimes even need to be the doctor, the butcher and the technician in one. and i guess you need a really good dog as well, and i don’t have any dog training skills and a dog is also missing. additionally it is not very well paid, especially because you have to put so much work into your profession. i guess i could only do it as some kind of assistant, or trainee, and i simply cannot afford this. people always think there is so little work involved in shepherding, but the opposite is the case. woman rarely work in this field as it is physically very demanding and i guess you really have to be carved out for it and really have to want it and have a passion for it.

In my experience, singers love it when you go to them after a show and thank them for their performance. The funny thing is that most of them feel at least as fragile or anxious as you do, they suddenly become human, which I find encouraging.

My daughter is a youth member of the local chapter of a nature enthusiasts group (don’t know how to translate its name). They regularly have barefoot walks in the forests around our city and she loves it. We should try it ourselves more often. Enjoy!

i may like flowers and plants but i don’t think this could be the right job for me. like i said, it is paid very poorly and i have close to no professional knowledge about the job at all. if you go for a job, then you also need to have the basics set before you apply. and you need to have the passion.

it sounds, again, like an excuse, but it isn’t. i have to emphasize this: if you go for something new, you need to have passion and the will to do it. you might not understand it, but being full of passion is a character treat i don’t possess. and that is the truth, really. i tried to find something that i’m passionate about, but i lack the willpower behind it, to pursue anything.

i just want silence and a certain kind of solitude.

Isn't there are gardening shop where you could apply for a job? You have the retail skills and the love for flowers and anything green, so...

that would be a lovely job. but... unfortunately it wouldn’t pay the bills. it is one of those jobs that is underpaid in germany, with a salary of maybe 1.800 pre-tax. which in the end is approximately what a cleaning lady would earn, in some states even less. and in a town like mine, it would mean practically living near the poverty line. my brother’s girlfriend is just finishing an apprenticeship in this field, and even though she loves it, she says that she couldn’t have done it with the help of other people supporting her with money or my brother’s additional income. they both earn very little money ( my bro works in building cleaning job - underpaid as well ). i’m living on my own, the rent of my flat is painstakingly high for only 35 squaremeters, i have a car and quite a lot of insurances to pay... i think i wouldn’t make it without support of someone as well. and i was raised to not be dependent of others, and it would hurt my pride and self-dignity if i’d had to in the future. i’m perfectly fine with an income of 1.300 - 1.600  after tax per month, but below that... it’s simply not possible to live a decent life below this salary, at least not in germany.

If your manager thought you did something wrong you would have heard the same day, so don’t worry about that. Instead be proud you didn’t allow another person to put you down, many of us don’t have the balls/ovaries to stand our ground. Well done!

well, it also could be that the customer didn’t complain yet and wants to write a letter or ring up the customer service later. in both cases the grounding is yet to come.
