“I didn’t want them to kill you.”
Yuugi twirled his cane to work off some of the tension that had been built up. This particular meeting had gone south, to say the least. As usual he’d gone to meet some potential business partners to screen them, only to find out once again, somebody had sent their goons to get at the head of the Puzzles. Of course they stupidly had assumed he was them and acted too soon. He was simply a member of the management ranks, and a similar face.
Which honestly went in favor of the outfit.
The fact that both had been taken out by none other than the head of the Dragons did not help his sour mood. Now he couldn’t even grill them for information on who they were working for.
“I can see that,” keeping his voice even was a struggle, “but next time you decide to follow me on my missions keep in mind two things:”
He stepped over the crumpled bodies on the pavement, neatly avoiding the blood pooling under them. Yuugi stood up to his full height in front of Kaiba, power imbalance be damned.
“One, I am perfectly capable of defending myself against idiots who don’t know how to wait for the opportune moment and Two,” he raised his cane to the man’s eye level since he couldn’t reach with his hand to point in his face, “How am I supposed to explain to the higher ups the Dragons’ head executive was seen helping me?”
Yuugi didn’t like having to be a jerk about it, but he couldn’t have Kaiba making his job harder. Someone was actively trying to get in the door to their business with the sole purpose of assassinating their leaders. And he had no more intel than he came here with.
“I could have gotten information out of those two when I was done with them, but you just went and ruined that lead.”
