“Physically, she seems to be doing fine. They were able to remove the bullet with little trouble and patched her back up. The main concern is that she hit her head and has been comatose since. We’re monitoring her for symptoms of a concussion but it’s hard to tell if that’s why she’s unresponsive. That’s all I’m allowed to tell you really as you’re not family. You’re welcome to sit with her.”

Daisy was seated uncomfortably in the hallway of the hospital. Her eyes were pretty void of emotion, but her heart was beating rapidly, her chest filling with quick breaths, and her entire body was hot with fear. Had Maggie really been shot? She was very close on the verge of breaking down and she wasn’t allowed in Maggie’s room. News most likely got around about this catastrophe, and people would likely be coming by anything soon. But Daisy sat still, with her mind running a million miles an hour, in need of comforting and someone to talk to.
