CHAOS AS STARK CLEARED OF TREASON
The New York Examiner, May 8th 1946
The Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) today cleared inventor Howard Stark of all charges of treason, as unknown gunman opened fire at press briefing.
Speaking in front of gathered press outside City Hall, a spokesman for the SSR announced that Howard Stark is innocent of the theft and sale of weapons to foreign enemies. With all charges dropped, Mr. Stark is declared "a hero for all Americans."
The briefing was cut short as gunshots were heard. Mr. Stark was rushed out of the scene by SSR agents.
Identity of gunman remains unknown.
