Right after Venti slept, Time finally left Mondstadt after being captive by Decarabian for who knows how long, going all around Teyvat and doing their job as the God of Time. They neglected Mondstadt and hence the abandonment of the worshippers from the temple, and it gives them fear to think of being trapped there again. They plan to come back a few years before Venti wakes up, but they were drawn over to Dragonspine (that wasn't named that time) where a phenomenon is about to commence and as the holder of history, they need to be there as witness.
Cue the fall of the Skyfrost Nail. Time tried to stop the Nail from wiping out the civilization in the mountain (which you can read from the treasure box you find in Dragonspine) but ended up dying from it, the force of a dying god also wiped out the mountain. Celestia, after realizing the death of the God of Time and realizing that time shouldn't be left like so without a moderator elected a new soul/spirit/god to go down to Teyvat and moderate.
With the remnants of memories of the deceased God of Time, the God of Memories now exists, also titled Keeper of History. They made an appearance in my first fic ever called A Yearly Memory. Currently they are kept in Fontaine with the Hydro Archon for reasons as the Bearer of Truth, they are in court to prove when the suspect is the real culprit or not. They're also the head of Steambird, the Teyvat newspaper that Mona works for. As well as the Recorder of Artifacts, where they put replicas of recorded artifacts in a museum in Fontaine.
Here are the few abilities the God of Memories have:
See 3500 years into the past and 3500 years into the future. If using the current timeline as the center point, the past for them is where the first civilization still exists and the future they see is currently in the 1900's.
When touching a person for the first time, they see the whole of their memories automatically.
Same as God of Time, when a world event is about to happen they feel a force that brings them to the area where it happens.
When touching an artifact, they can envision the lore behind it accurately.
The archons don't know what happened to the God of Time, and Venti doesn't know about the God of Memories because they're undercover. They don't want to interact because they don't know how to tell Venti about their death.

You know this whole thing is very ironic in its sense. I didn't expect to write for Diluc when I started this blog because I barely pay attention to him but now HIS FIC IS THE ONE I ENJOYED WRITING THE MOST ACK, I'M HAPPY YOU GUYS GAVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO WRITE FOR HIM OKAY, ALSO I LOVE WRITING SOFT ANGST WAHAH
To add onto that last anon, for ABTA story, you can have a mini flashback to cute things Diluc and reader used to do, like games of hide and seek, happy memories, sad memories, etc heck you can have one where Diluc tries to make a good impression ob the parents once he realizes what being engaged actually means!
Trying to calculate how many Diluc simps are in my followers-
My previous anon answer pertains mostly to Part 3 of ABTA in which it focuses on the healing process and how the two reconciles as adults. While Diluc tries to backtrack to his self before he left, Reader's side is focused on moving on from the past to deal with the new Diluc.
Since I don't have much for Diluc but he CARRIES the fluff side of this little blog, my plan would be ficlets of extensions to ABTA where I can indulge more on the both of them after the three main stories are published. It's like a different set of oneshots but the relationship comes from ABTA. (I like writing fluff only for Diluc LMAO)
I already had one in mind like cute shit where Diluc is the knight, Reader is the boyish princess and Kaeya is the laidback dragon uhu
