her biggest personality trait is being THE biggest hater of the dime lions
her father used to a bruiser for the dime lions during pekka rollins' days. he tried to double-cross pekka once and was obviously unsuccessful - but instead of taking the consequences with his chin, he threw his wife under the bus to take the fall.
her mother was also kerch-born, but from the outer district farms. frankly, she was a big believer of minding her business but the dime lions are sent after her.
she dies, and her father isn't too far behind, after pekka finds out about the betrayal anyway.
little anika is now an orphan on the shady streets of ketterdam, angry the way teenagers are and angrier still at her hand in life.
this is how kaz brekker and his offer of the dregs find her.
she works her way up, knuckles and bones, bottom rung of the ladder. spends a lot of her time holding grudges, hating her dead father and trying to feel something when throwing a fist.
scrappy in a fight. even better with knives as weapons.
undyingly loyal to kaz and his version of the dregs. was one of the first to defend him when the city turned against him, and has been rewarded for this loyalty by being lieutenant. does a lot of brunt work for it but doesn't really mind - in a world of shady morals and looking over her shoulder, she can't find any crimes worse than betrayal and cowards.
lives in the slat. lives and breathes for the dregs. doesn't really know how to be anything else than feral.

Education: High School
Relationship status: Single
Children: Hermosa Ortega, Martez Ortega NoneÂ
Positive traits: Active, Dedicated, Honest, Neat, ObjectiveÂ
Negative traits: Competitive, Angry, Sarcastic, Pessimistic, Cynical
â BIOGRAPHY ( tw for death, drug mention )Â
Daniela was the first born child of Isabel Marin and Luis Diaz. At the time, Isabel and Luis were midway through college, but Isabel dropped out to have her first child. Luis was never truly in the picture for Danielaâs life, though thankfully Isabelâs father helped her raise the child while she went to night school to finish her degree.
By the time Daniela was five, her mother had finished her degree and was working at a small law firm in the Bronx. From an early age, her mother pushed education, wanting the best for her daughter. Daniela a smart kid too and she was the pride and joy of the small Ortega family. When her abuelito was working, Daniela would sit in a corner booth of his diner and color photos, waiting for her mom to get off work.Â
Her mother let her join a soccer team when she was eight and Daniela quickly fell in love with the sport. She had always enjoyed watching the sport, but playing it was better. At first she was on a childrenâs team, but eventually her coach asked her to join a more competitive team. Even at a young age, she had talent and drive to play soccer.Â
She was ten years old when her mother married a man named Emilio Ortega. Heâd been previously married and had one child of his own already, Hermosa. She was two at the time and suddenly Daniela was an older sister. Her small family was growing and that was important to her. Emilio officially adopted Daniela right when she turned eleven. Four years later, the family welcomed a little boy into the family, Martez.Â
It wasnât long after the baby boy, did Emilio take off. He was struggling with the responsibility of having three children to take care of. It was around then that Daniela started working at the diner with her grandfather to help support the family.Â
Daniela was not the smartest student, which was an argument between her and her mother often. Her mom believed Daniela was not trying as hard as she could be, but Daniel struggled in school. She didnât care about college or education when she only wanted to play soccer.Â
By the time she was seventeen, she was playing for both her school soccer team and a competitive travel team. College recruiters were already starting to scout her, wanting to give her a full ride scholarships. Still her mother wanted her to focus on education, not the sport, regardless of what it could give her in terms of education.Â
Daniela is not proud of the day her mother died. Sheâd gotten into a screaming match with her mom and stormed out to take a run. When she came back, an ambulance was outside her home. A heart attack, they said. Dead at the scene. She was barely eighteen and her mother was gone.Â
Her abuelito had sold the diner, but Daniela still managed to keep her job. But she needed to find work and quickly, otherwise her siblings would suffer. Thankfully, she knew people from school involved in petty crime. Daniela soon began dealing, specifically for the Cartel, since they ran in her neighborhood.Â
Somehow, she managed to graduate high school, but with having to take care of her siblings, Daniela ended up not being able to play soccer, meaning she lost any scholarship or chance she had to play soccer after graduation. Raising two children became her primary goal and the more she started dealing, the harder and harder it became to leave that life behind. Â
When Hermosa turned eighteen, she moved out of the house in a rage. She and Daniela had stopped getting along the moment her the second Emilio left. While it always made her sad, she couldnât do anything about the fact that at barely eighteen, she had to raise two children, not really knowing how to do that in the first place. Daniela hopes some distance from her will give her sister some perspective.Â
Daniela still had one more kid to finish raising though. Her younger brother seemed to be cut from much of the same cloth as Daniela and this time, she was determined to let him have the experiences she never had. Daniela doubled down on activity with the cartel, hoping that saving the money her brother would need to be successful after graduating.Â
Now that her younger brother is nineteen and moved out and at college, Daniela has slowly started wondering if she ought to back out of the Cartel, but doesnât really know how to begin doing that. She doesnât have a college degree of any type and doesnât have anywhere to go either. This is all sheâs known for so long that she doesnât really know what to do for a living with no education. Maybe her mother was right about that.Â

Trash. Thatâs what everyone in the town of Asheville said about the Van Sant family. They were a family of seven, living in a cramped, falling to pieces house on the outskirts of town. Ripley was the middle child in their family. They grew up not entirely poor, but one of the poorer families in town: Ripleyâs father worked two jobs to keep the family afloat and their mother did what she could as well, working her own job and odd jobs when she could. Which left Ripley and all their siblings adultless most of the time, especially since the nearest neighbor was at least six miles away. What the Van Sants lacked in money, however, they gained in being a close-knit family. Ripleyâs mother told bedtime stories to her children when she was home and their father often would play catch with his children when he wasnât exhausted or at work. As much as the rumors about the family spread through town, they were wrong. They werenât pushing drugs, they werenât doing anything illegal, they were just lower class, below-average income American family with nothing but each other.
Life was alright for Ripley, until he turned six and their parents got a divorce. It didnât surprise anyoneâtheyâd been having problems for a while and with little money saved up, tensions in the house had grown high. Ripley was too young to understand what was going on, but suddenly their father was gone, leaving only one parent in the house. Almost six months went by before Ripley even saw their father again and it was only because he wanted custody of the children. In the time he was gone, Ripleyâs mother had begun dating someone new, a friend from high school. So appalled that she had the nerve to start dating after such a short period of timeâand to someone he considered a close family friendâhe walked out of their lives, swearing heâd never come back; which is a promise he kept. Soon, Ripleyâs mother remarried her girlfriend and the family moved into a slightly bigger and better house. Eight years old at the time of their motherâs marriage, Ripley suddenly had a room they only had to share with one sibling, not three. And they had two moms now, rather than just the one. It was an adjustment for them, but Ripley was nothing if not excited for a family like the one theyâd previously had.
Things started to change for Ripley when they entered high school. The kids around them all started paying more attention to clothes and shoes, things that they knew they could never afford and would never be able to ask for. Despite living in better conditions than before, their parents still didnât have that much extra money to buy fancy things for their children, especially since it wasnât one pair of Converse, it was five. Ripley didnât mind, at first. But then the other children started making fun of them for their handed down clothing and ripped up shoes, and something in them snapped. They were better than those other kids, they knew it, even if they didnât have what everyone else around them did. At first it was little things that Ripley did that got them into trouble: fights with other students, talking back to teachers, and snapping at anyone that tried to help. When that stopped satisfying them, Ripley sought out other ways to be a little more defiant: stealing, lying, going to parties, getting drunk. It wasnât long before they fell in with the wrong crowd, where they started dealing and doing drugs. Ripleyâs teachers all tried to get more involved with their life and keep them away from the groups of people theyâd gotten involved with, but the more they tried, the more Ripley pushed them away, refusing help from everyone. With a steady income from the drugs they were dealing, Ripley could get anything they wanted, and those people that made fun of their plain clothing, boring sneakers, and handed down cell phone all had to watch as they suddenly owned the best they were willing to buy. They rose to the top, surrounding themself with the people that used to make fun of themâif only to prove that they had the ambition to do what it took to prove everyone wrong.
All good things must come to an end, however, and things fell fast for Ripley. Senior year of high school, Ripley overdosed on some prescription drugs theyâd taken before classâa careless mix of things they couldnât even identify. Rushed to the hospital, the doctors managed to save their life and they were sent to rehab for the rest of their senior year. When they were released, Ripley ended up redoing their senior year, but rather than finish school off in Asheville, their parents relocated to Blowing Rock, North Carolina, a smaller town where no one would know what had happened to them. And luckily, it helped with the healing process. As did something else Ripley never expected to happen: a doctor at their rehab facility told them to get involved with somethingâa sport, a club, a job, anything. With no real interest in any violent sport, Ripley did something unexpected: they tried out for the cheerleading team. Surprisingly, they managed to get through their senior year with little effort and without relapsing, despite temptation. And then they decided to spend their first year at a community college to keep their head on their shoulders before transferring to NYC to be close to their brother their sophomore year.
College ended up being a breeze for them, putting their soul focus in on their work, Ripley was able to graduate in three years. They currently live with their older brother, Pip, in a tiny apartment. Their brother works in the video game industry while Ripley ended up getting a job working at NPR through a connection they made at school. They are keeping their head down and attempting to climb up the ranks in the production world because one day theyâd like to host their own radio show, but thatâs a long way off as they are slowly working their way through graduate school. Currently, they have a podcast that they produce with a friend called Crimes and Chaos, which mostly talks about true crime, but occasionally will discuss supernatural topics.

â BIOGRAPHY ( tw for murder mention )Â
When Marise Beauchamp found herself pregnant, her parents nearly threw her out. Nineteen was too young to have a child. She was young and stupid, and they didnât want a daughter that was a constant screw up like they believed Marise was. She promised to get her life on track though as soon as the baby was born. She didnât know who the father was, but she was alone the day her child was born.Â
What ended up happening though was once Marise had her child, she basically kept running off. She never had a stable job, never had any sort of consistency in her life. So by the time Alina was two, her mother was basically out of the picture and living with her grandparents, who thankfully were willing to take her in as long as Marise legally let them become Alinaâs guardian. They didnât want to risk their flighty child taking away a baby she was not nearly capable of raising.
For the most part Marise stayed away, only sending cards for Alinaâs birthday and occasionally a postcard for Christmas. Alinaâs grandparents were stable people. Davis Beauchamp owned his own business and Elise was a stay at home mother. They warned Alina not to be too much like her mother, she grew up hearing cautionary tales of what happened when pretty girls like her met boys. She promised them she would never date a boy.Â
Alina was a clever child. She was popular among her classmates and known for being kind and caring to everyone. She loved to read and found literature a nice place to escape to, dreaming of the day sheâd make enough money to travel the world and see places other than New York, which she loved, but knew there was a bigger world out there.Â
At fourteen years old, walking home from school, Alina witnessed a murder. Thankfully, the killer didnât see her and Alina was able to hide in a local shop while the police were called. During her interview with the police, she became very interested in criminal justice and how the legal system worked. Alina decided then that she wanted to become a lawyer. The police managed to catch the killer, thanks to her eyewitness of the crime and the murderer was put behind bars.
Even though her mother was never around, Alina still had a great family. Her grandparents were supportive of her and when she came out at sixteen, they supported her. She was thankful for the support they gave her because she was always a bit more on the shy side and they pushed her to do and be more. It was because of their support that Alina ended up running for student body president her senior year and winning. She was crowned Homecoming and Prom Queen that same year. Alina was everything her mother never had been.Â
When Alina graduated, sheâd wanted to go out of state, but she didnât want to burden her grandparents. She got a full ride scholarship to Pace and decided to go there, keeping her close to her grandparents. College was slightly harder for her, but she still put a ton of effort into getting good grades, but it was during a mock trial in one of her classes that she realized maybe lawyer was a little unobtainable since in the middle of her argument, she started crying. Alina swapped her major to criminal justice, deciding she would focus on that side of things.Â
During the summer between her junior and senior year, Alina decided to get a job as a dispatcher for the NYPD. She decided it would be a good chance for her to go ahead and get involved with the police in some degree. Sheâs been working there ever since. Although now sheâs graduated, she still works as a dispatcher because she enjoys the work. It gets her close to the action without her getting hurt and allows her to help people. At the same time, sheâs thinking about getting a Masterâs Degree in Criminal Justice to become a criminal profiler, but she hasnât decided if thatâs a good idea yet or not.Â
She is not clueless to the crime and gang activity. Spending time in the police department, Alina seems to think that sheâs far away from all the criminal activity. Sheâs just a dispatcher after all, low within the world of law enforcement, but sheâs still tied to them. She knows her work is sometimes just important as the police because sometimes the witnesses can give small clues to the crimes they saw, just like she did when she was fourteen. Alina knows that the details she picks up from calls can help solve all sorts of problems and she feels like sheâs helping keep the people of New York safe.Â
hello, good evening, i would like to emphasize that milly is not spiritual or religious. she doesnât believe in anything at all. although she may question what happens after death (simply bc she was in A Coma and it traumatized her and stripped her of her christian upbringingâs beliefs at fourteen years old), she simply understands that she does not know enough to ever put her energy or effort into worshipping something. her acknowledgement in just not knowing is why i label her as an agnostic woman, but i would go as far to say that she would not label herself as agnostic. the idea of religion is so complicated to her, and itâs something she so genuinely uninterested in it, so iâm pretty sure she would call herself an atheist.
itâs not foreign to her, though, and she takes a lot of pride in the fact that she has researched most religions at some point, and she was raised in a texan bible belt town. she went to church on sundays, her family prayed before supper, all of it. for this reason, she spent most of her life presenting herself as a christian woman--- she only stopped when she had her daughter and refused to continue keep up with the image, such as wearing her motherâs cross or attending a sunday service every once in a while. after all, raising a daughter to think that she had to present herself as anything to please those around her was something she simply would not do.
her current boyfriend (and future husband), abel wakefield, also has a very complicated relationship with religion (being the son of a priest ((who was also a very abusive father and parented on the pillars of repentance and fearing god)), having went to a theological seminary with the intention of becoming a priest himself only to drop out when he realized he didnât actually believe it), and that complicated relationship is one thing that they had initially bonded over. given, his situation is much more painful than hers, and she knows this. but, all the same, they understand each other in the sense that they donât care to have religion in their lives at all due to a realization of disbelief at some point in their lives. they also donât care to directly put religion in their childrenâs lives (they donât control what stella or beck believe, and stella even grows up to consider herself pagan, which is supported by both her parents even if they donât believe it themselves. they believe that she believes and thatâs enough for it to be valid).
obviously, sheâs not an asshole about it. any given person in her life might not even know that sheâs not religious. she IS a flat earther tho đ
