her biggest personality trait is being THE biggest hater of the dime lions
her father used to a bruiser for the dime lions during pekka rollins' days. he tried to double-cross pekka once and was obviously unsuccessful - but instead of taking the consequences with his chin, he threw his wife under the bus to take the fall.
her mother was also kerch-born, but from the outer district farms. frankly, she was a big believer of minding her business but the dime lions are sent after her.
she dies, and her father isn't too far behind, after pekka finds out about the betrayal anyway.
little anika is now an orphan on the shady streets of ketterdam, angry the way teenagers are and angrier still at her hand in life.
this is how kaz brekker and his offer of the dregs find her.
she works her way up, knuckles and bones, bottom rung of the ladder. spends a lot of her time holding grudges, hating her dead father and trying to feel something when throwing a fist.
scrappy in a fight. even better with knives as weapons.
undyingly loyal to kaz and his version of the dregs. was one of the first to defend him when the city turned against him, and has been rewarded for this loyalty by being lieutenant. does a lot of brunt work for it but doesn't really mind - in a world of shady morals and looking over her shoulder, she can't find any crimes worse than betrayal and cowards.
lives in the slat. lives and breathes for the dregs. doesn't really know how to be anything else than feral.
