You're Headless, an abomination of a mad scientist that gets pushed down a pit in the opening sequence but has to climb a tower to escape. Don't ask me. 2Hard4Me platformer with lots of wall jumping and timing things and starting over all the way at the bottom when you screw it up. Which I did, a lot. Then the level changes to another layout though they do repeat after a time or two. You can collect heads along the way as well to give yourself some special powers. Despite kicking my ass in the game play department (I suck at these so no surprise there), I did enjoy the artwork which crispy mixed humor and gore. The repeating music line was sort of eh, though. If I was better at these, I might like this one.

Demo For Abomination Tower Now Available

A demo for the 2D procedurally generated platformer, Abomination Tower, is now available.

“You play as Headless, the rejected creation of a mad scientist. Headless is trapped in the tower with other dangerous abominations. You must journey up the tower to escape! Along the way you unlock heads that can be equipped, each with its own unique ability to aid in your escape.”

Abomination Tower is being developed by Adrian Sugden. Adrian is a one-man-band independent game developer from Australia. The game is currently listed on Steam Greenlight, so check it out if you’re interested.

Abomination Tower is a hardcore Super Meat Boy-style platformer with procedurally generated levels that are full of nasty ways die.

You play as a mad scientists creation trapped in a tower where you must ascend the tower to escape (lots of wall jumping). You can unlock heads along the way by collecting eyeballs (having 5 eyeballs when you finish the level will unlock the first head in the game, but the only one available in this demo). These heads provide power ups or special abilities to help you get through the level and are equipable at the start of each level.

You can play with keyboard controls, but you’ll stand a far better chance if you use an Xbox 360 controller.  The Alpha demo features just the one tile set, but thanks to the procedural generation, you won’t climb the same tower more than once.  It’s a fun game, clearly influenced by Super Meat Boy - challenging, bloody and an irreverand sense of humor.  The procedural generation is particularly exciting, but the special heads are also a great touch, and will at least give you a fighting chance as you make your way through this tower of abomination.
