something that’s fascinating to me in Deception is this idea that Jonathan is so good at reading people, and at reading Cameron specifically (look at all the psychoanalytical phone calls; recognizing Cam is jealous before Cam does, already come to terms with the fact that they have daddy issues) while Cameron seriously struggles to tell when Johnny is lying or not. And I think that fits very well with the premise introduced by the show: if Johnny has been practicing at stepping into Cameron’s shoes his whole life, then it makes sense he’d be more sensitive to the minute details that make people stand out from one another. It makes sense that he would be intimately familiar with Cameron’s mannerisms, reactions, expressions, etc. while Cameron, who never had to… well, do that, is probably less aware of it.
Cameron Black?
First impression My manic, ADHD love - you sold out your brother pretty fucking quick.
Impression now My manic, ADHD love who had no concept at all about how emotions work
Favorite moment The entire episode where he has been kidnapped by Mystery Woman and is blackmailed into helping her steal the diamond from the auction house
Idea for a story I feel like the answer for Jonathan should probably count here too, right? :-D
Unpopular opinion That Cameron absolutely sucks at trying to understand people, but especially himself because he's always been taught to be a people pleaser and charismatic and charming without really considering what he might be like
Favorite relationship Him and Jonathan, and definitely with Jordan. I crack up every time I watch the scene where Cameron explains that he called Jordan because Jordan is the better liar, and Jordan takes it as a compliment (which it's meant to be)
Favorite headcanon Cameron is accident prone as fuck because he just DOES without thinking "Wait - what happens if this goes badly?" and is never fully aware of his surroundings.
They made a reference to Deception in the Blindspot finale!
Cameron: I don’t want to buy all this stupid, boring adult stuff and become just like my grandparents.
Kay: Hey, listen to me. Yes, we’re going to buy a dish rack and shower curtains and a cutting board. But if you think for one second that I’m not also gonna get that marshmallow shooter, so that I can shoot you in the face with marshmallows when you’re asleep, then you’re the dumbest man I know.
Cameron: [Sniffling] You’re making me cry.

Make me chose meme: anonymous asked Jonathan Black or Cameron Black?
If you think this is the first time I’ve been handcuffed to a bed by a beautiful woman in a foreign country, you’re greatly mistaken.
Jack’s latest IG post legit broke my heart. You can tell he loved that show and invested a lot into it. He usually posts about a newest episode before it airs, but this time he didn’t on sunday night. Sad time. While Deception only had 10 episodes so far, the fanbase grew quickly and people were really supportive of the show. At least the actors saw that but this is still bittersweet.
Deep down I’m still hoping for a miracle.
There is so much untapped potential in ABC's show "Deception" - also a whumpers paradise. Canonically, Cameron Black (Jack Cutmore-Scott) has been whumped every episode (knocked out, kidnapped, punched, manhandled, etc) but he also has a super whumpy past as a magician. Every other episode when he or his team mention a past trick that didn't go well, he's spent months in the hospital, broken half the bones in his body, learned to fight because he and his brother were easy targets while travelling...
Double bonus? He has an identical twin who generally ALSO gets whumped in his alternate prison storyline.
Someone needs to write some whumpy awesome backstory for this show. Pleeeease? Just look at that face. How could you not want it covered in blood?
