Outsourcing my decision making to the internet (never a good idea but hey, a poll! You can click buttons and laugh at me!)
Kind of a vent post? There's no motivation quite like spite?
I currently have some beef with my singing teacher (very phantom-coded, I know) about repertoire she thinks I'm not capable of performing and as a result the spite braincell has activated, and I want to do something just to prove a point.
Anyway, uh. I'm indecisive. Pick one of my favourite songs for me to inflict on my singing teacher, that I'd actually *like* to work on?
Маятник Времён from Master and Margarita (on my m&m brainrot at the moment)
Music of the Night from Phantom (overdone ik but it would exemplify my point)
The first bit of Point of No Return from Phantom (because easy)
A Győzedelmes Zeneszó from Mozart! (because fun)

Some context: I usually let my teacher pick the repertoire we work on, but I'm meant to have chosen a piece to sing for a workshop and since it's actually being performed in front of people, I want it to be something that I enjoy - anyway, I didn't like (read: absolutely hated) much of the repertoire she suggested and I very hesitantly asked if maybe we could go through her tenor repertoire book instead (she has books of material divided by vocal range - ambitious baritone here).
She emphatically told me no and gave me the whole spiel (which I've heard before) about performing audition pieces in the original key, which is like??? 1) we haven't worked together for very long and I'm realising she's not really familiar with my range and capabilities and 2) I genuinely don't see how the stuff she wants me to do is any better??? The typecasting issue is bad enough as it is in my prose theatre work please don't make me do more comic-relief characters who furthermore sing songs that I hate
