hate when people say something along the lines of "we must get along so well because you are/i am [some astrological sign]" to me. what are you fucking talking about. we get along because im fucking nice. a decision which i regret when you say shit like that
this post is a good rent lowering gunshot. in case anyone needs one of those
Morphological differences between thorns, spines, and prickles
"Every rose has its thorns" - wrong. Prickles
It would kill half the 19-25 year olds online to realize "I can't help it I have trauma" is one of THE quintessential abuser excuses
Like there is a difference between "My trauma creates impulsive urges and has changed my instinctive reactions to be irrational, I need to relearn shit." vs "I'm traumatized so I Can't Help It and you're not allowed to expect better of me"

River flow anomalies in Europe, July 2026
(by Anadolu Agency)
the thing is there are real issues with literacy levels and reading comprehension but that's usually not what's happening on tumblr. what's usually happening on tumblr is that a lot of people are annoying, impatient, distracted, self-righteous, insecure, not paying attention etc
and actually one thing that is particularly annoying and self-righteous is how any time you point out these things, everybody piles into the replies to tell you that the average american has a below high school reading level. first of all this means nothing to me because i have no idea what an expected high school reading level is, i'm not american. but secondly I'm pretty sure youse read shakespeare in school so i think you can manage a post. and thirdly nobody is making the average american read and respond to every single post. you can just ignore the ones that are too hard for you
but 99.9% of the time on this website it's not that things are too hard and good-faith efforts to read them are insufficient. let's be real. it's that people are annoying, impatient, distracted, self-righteous, insecure, not paying attention etc
people get so mad when you tell them that their lowbrow entertainment they enjoy is actually lowbrow
everyone wants their self-indulgent romantasy to be considered high literature and whatever new mainstream pop boy/girl to be treated as the next beethoven and their gay fluff show on streaming apps to be revolutionary art changing the world and like, they're not. and that's okay. i'm literally watching the stupidest show right now and it's fine. it doesn't have to be more.
there's also the argument of how pop culture used to be the trickle down from high culture for the longest time but now it's an ouroboros eating itself as access and willingness to engage with high culture have been systematically destroyed and diminished through the last decades so your popcorn flick moviemaker now only gets inspiration from other popcorn flicks when their foreparents used to actually read literally and see art of all kinds and your pop musicians used to listen to all sorts of new and old music rather than just their contemporaries/competition and maybe this absence of any sort of culture outside of our easy algorithms is why everyone's so defensive of what they passively consume and so attached to it as a part of their identity but that's a discussion for another day
i kno its not rly a popular statement and it sounds dismissive but you'll be miserable for as long as u deny ur own agency in ur own happiness
bit tiring to always be an add-on, an afterthought, an alternative

One of the things that gets forgotten or not seen imo in the 'Europe has walkable cities' debate is that Europe in my experience also has citizens who dedicate their lives to bullying city council every time and immediately when e.g. a new conductor box is two centimetres too broad and thus blocking said sidewalk as per regulation or a cut curb is not quite cut enough or there's no bike path. If you want sidewalks, you need to found Concerned Moms For Safer Suburbs and spent a lot of your free time recruiting people to your cause, bullying lobbying your local city council and ideally getting people elected who agree that there should be sidewalks, and you need to keep doing it. And doing it. And doing it. And you need to actually do it in and around your community and local government, not on Bluesky. And you need to keep doing it. And it sucks ass.
you seem avoidant for a girl who’s so hungry to experience the full breadth of human connection
if i was born 500 years ago i would have been speculating that the two dudes who went to get firewood together were fucking
chat, how long do y’all think 500 years is. Romeo and Juliet was written in the 1500s. 500 years is not the Stone Age.
why do u think people stopped collecting firewood after caveman times
Many such cases
Me and my buddy went into the woods to get firewood last week and although we weren't fucking he did point out the stump where he had fucked the last guy who went into the woods to get firewood with him.

More than "here in the Southern Hemisphere we have inverted seasons :)" thing, which is TECHNICALLY true, I would go a step further and encourage to think about that "much of the world does not exactly has a spring-summer-fall-winter season sequence as they show in cartoons"
I will scream about this to anyone who listens forever. AUSTRALIA DOES NOT HAVE "ENGLISH SEASONS BUT BACKWARDS" and the insistence that it does creates a massive layer of alienation from the natural world.
I never really realised how much difference it makes until I went to England and realised that here the change of seasons is an obvious, visible, physical change in the world. Like, everything REALLY IS orange and foggy in autumn! In spring there are flowers EVERYWHERE, so much more than any other season, and the trees really do have all blossom and no leaves. Even if it doesn't snow, in winter there's frost all the time and the trees are bare and the sky is visibly greyer all the time. You don't need to be told "this date is the first day of spring", you can SEE IT (although this is getting way messier and less precise due to climate change).
By contrast, most places in Australia the seasons we're taught feel like arbitrary categories - and is it any surprise considering they're colonial constructs? Orange-leaved autumn and blossom-covered spring is a cartoon stereotype with no relevance on a continent where ALL NATIVE TREES ARE EVERGREEN!! Snowy winters are a joke in the desert, and even sunny summers don't ring particularly true considering that much of the country is in the tropics, where summer means monsoons - not that I've ever seen the concept that WE HAVE A MONSOON SEASON taught at an Australian school.
Most Indigenous nations around Australia had six or more seasons, revolving around wet and dry times as much as hot and cold, and marked by the appearances of certain native animals and flowers. Schools need to start teaching the real seasons, and explaining that climate cycles are too complex to generalise globally, or else we will keep raising generations who view the natural world as hostile and unpredictable and climate predictions as generally irrelevent and frequently wrong - and I'm sure I don't need to spell out why that's a problem in the era of climate crisis.
i want to add that 40% of the world's population lives in the tropics, and the 4 season model just doesn't make much sense for a lot of places in there. usually it's just the wet season/monsoon season and the dry season. it's often hot year round.
the 4 season model as you and i know it is a european invention, though 4 season models aren't unique to europe! most notably china has the same type of season subdivision.
in general the way humans define seasons is largely subjective and varies across cultures. the one you were taught is not at all universal!
