(and the few recorded cases of it are ones of tragedy. the two most recent being the last war johto participated in and the deaths of her children in the hellfire that consumed one of the land's towers.)

so for tears to so quickly collect in the corner of her eyes, soon after rolling down her humanoid visage, is almost completely unheard of.

she doesn't quite understand why two deceptively-simple words so swiftly reduce her to a teary, sniffling mess -- but that’s fine. she doesn’t have to understand it, just as she knows she doesn’t have to verbalize her thoughts.

the love that she can feel from her daughter is more than enough to tell her that it’s okay, because the woman before her understands without a word.

"of course, my dearest plumeria.” she whispers, raising a hand to silently nudge away the newest tears that threatened to streak down her face. “and th-- thank you.”
